ELDERS OBEYED
The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire ... also the doors, the bonnet, the seats and the dashboard as dozens more cars fall victim to incendiary Parisian youths:
French authorities deployed 1,000 police to a northern Paris suburb Tuesday to prevent a third night of youth riots amid signs that the violence could be spreading.
Much of this is blamed on societal collapse, but it seems these youths are quite obedient:
A report from Le Monde newspaper described boys as young as 13 taking orders from their elders to torch buildings and forming battle ranks against the police, vowing to “do in” a “pig”—a police officer.
No police deaths (yet), but many injuries:
Some 120 police officers have been injured, four of them seriously after being hit by buckshot from hunting weapons, according to police figures. By comparison, 200 officers were injured in three weeks of rioting in 2005.
Scrappleface: “The people of France awakened this morning to the obvious question: Why do youths hate us?”
UPDATE. What with all these car burnings, no wonder the Volvo is sad. (Buy shirt here.)
UPDATE II. Dan Lewis emails:
Bolta’s post about the French ‘youths’ rioting includes this quote:
“One policeman was wounded in the shoulder after being hit by a high-calibre bullet,” a security official said.
Your latest includes another quote:
Some 120 police officers have been injured, four of them seriously after being hit by buckshot from hunting weapons, according to police figures.
What bizarre euphemisms! How hard is it for the media to simply report that the Muslim youths “are using firearms”?
Perhaps they need a refresher in Boomstick training from the Dissident Frogman.
The concept of “grievance” has become so subjective these days that the presumption by many is that any grievance must have a legitimate basis.
This couldn’t be further from the truth. Sadly though, so long as this persists so to does an implicit acceptance of the means of acting out against this “grievance” within the subgroup that feels alienated and their supporters.
Its classic positive reinforcement, although the left has never been a fan of empirical psychology, only the abstractions of sociology.
#1 - He won’t.
Despite an increased police presence in other cities the violence hasn’t spread…yet. Sending in the Army in place of the police would almost guarantee a flare up in other cities.
Interestingly a friend mentioned to me that she thought one of the reasons it hadn’t flared up in other cities yet was the soccer. Lyon played in the Champions League last night and Marseille play tonight. As she tells it both matches are broadcast to huge audiences on national TV and result in a lot of people staying inside watching tele and not outside burning cars. She’s tipping a flare-up in other cities tomorrow night (when there is no soccer on to molify the youngsters) if the trouble continues in Paris tonight. Wait and see, I guess.

Is it the fact that our police have occupied youth lands, establishing stations and patrols and thus humiliating them?”
“Once we understand what we’ve done to set them off,” she added, “we can change our behavior and then, if they are willing, negotiate peace.”
WTF????You ever thought of changing their behaviour you stupid TWAT!!!!

Meanwhile, if even a newsite as right-wing as the BBC can report that…
‘People remember’
But for people in Clichy, what sticks out is the evocative language he has used to back his “zero tolerance” crime policy.
He once said an estate needed a “Kaercher clean”, referring to the name of an industrial cleaning manufacturer.
Another man, at the market, says: “Immigrants came here after World War II to help rebuild France but he says their children need a ‘Kaercher clean’. People remember that here.”
And once again the conversation turns to the police.
“It’s the way they stop and search people, kneeing them between the legs as they put them up against the wall. They get students mixed up with the worst offenders, yet these young people have done nothing wrong.”
Perhaps, who knows, that might go some way to explaining why the youth hate the pigs. I wonder how many wingnuts receive the same treatment from the cops…
Speaking of Elders…more Afghani’s liberated from their lives, oh sorry, I mean medievalislamofascist oppression.
“A US-led coalition warplane dropped a bomb on a tent in mountainous northeastern Afghanistan, killing 12 Afghan roadworkers, a provincial governor said today.”

Now this is just too much- you can’t be real, you’re really Paco or Wronright taking the urine, no human, even a pinko could be that obviously microcephalic and remain breathing without a respirator, let alone tap a keyboard with their forehead pointer.
And #12, an unsubstantiated report from a dubious sorce is gospel because it plays into your deepest held paranoid delusions- bet you’re a hoot at parties.

I never have, because I don’t shoot at cops. I don’t even stand near folks who shoot at cops.

What are the root causes of the riots we keep hearing about? Lack of investment in the suburbs leading to high unemplyment, lack of adequate public transport, large class sizes, lack of educational opportunities and discrimination in the wider population.
In their efforts to attract investment the locals burn down a small business. They show how much they would like public transport by vandalising and (last time) burning buses. They burn down two schools in an obvious attempt to show how much education means to them - then make sure they torch a public library just to show us they were serious. This done, they go out of their way to attack police officers on national TV in an effort to show the wider country that “we are just like you” and that discriminating against them is wrong.
Do people remember? The French people sure do - and more and more are getting sick of being told to look for root causes when the reality is being beamed into their homes each night.

#16: Habib: Rest assured, Excellency, that when I take the piss, it won’t be as anemic as that.
YouTube has video of last night’s riots, a more dramatic take on French riots last year and the bloody fantastic goal (0:29 in) from last night’s Champions League match in Lyon.

That was a mistake you blithering idiot.
Do you really think that we knowingly drop bombs on innocent construction workers? If your answer is yes then you need to get back to your meds.
A more serious question would revolve around the amount of vetting of targets not the willful slaughter of innocent people.
“A US-led coalition warplane dropped a bomb on a tent in mountainous northeastern Afghanistan, killing 12 Afghan roadworkers, a provincial governor said today.”
Probably has something to do with the fact that a few years back a bunch of terrorists operating out of Afghanistan attacked the United States killing thousand of people.
My advice would be: Don’t ever attack the United States. Unpleasant consequences will certainly follow.
Sometimes the consequences can be REALLY unpleasant, like, oh say having your cities vaporized by nuclear weapons.
Ask the Japanese about it.
