DWINDLER ACCUSED

Illinois Senator Barack Obama (D-Media) slams gas-guzzlers:

He says part of the blame for the world’s higher temperatures rests on gas guzzling vehicles. Obama says consumers can make the difference by switching to higher mileage hybrids. Today the Senator said, “It would save more energy, do more for the environment and create better world security than all the drilling we could do in Alaska.”

After the meeting ... Obama left in a GMC Envoy after admitting to favoring SUV’s himself.

That report—picked up by Drudge—annoyed the Senator’s staffers, who pointed out that the Envoy is “a Flexible Fuel Vehicle that can run on E85, which the Senator fills it with wherever its available”. The planet’s dwindling oil reserves (not often that you see the word “dwindling” in any other context, is it?) may depend on this, because Obama is into SUVs big-time:

* “ ... rolling through the flatlands of central Illinois in a leased S.U.V., Obama offered an explanation of his ability to connect with white rural and small-town voters ...”

* “ ... on a gray, chilly day in January, Barack Obama stepped from a jet black SUV ...”

* “Racing back to the FleetCenter in an SUV, Obama inhaled a turkey and cheese sandwich with spicy mustard ...”

  7. This is not fair.  Like Gore, Obama didn’t ever mean that the important people should have to go without.  If the big muddle of the masses - the insignificant ones - follow The Message, that’s all it will take, and the People Who Truly Count For Something are such a small proportion of the population that what they do will have no effect.  And, it would be silly to expect THEM to downsize.  What would the use be, then, of being Important?

Darn…I didn’t get the Message in time, and just picked up my EnviroWacker 8000.  My bad.

Nice and comfy on a long drive tho, and it fit a kitchen cabinet from Home Depot without a problem, and all my guns and tables, etc to the range.

    Sorry Gore, I’m keepin’ it.

  10. Liberal hypocrisy? I’m shocked. Shocked.

Next you’ll be telling me that Michael Moore lives in a million-dollar Manhattan apartment and sends his kid to an elite private school, or Noam Chomsky is a multimillionaire who shelters his money in trusts to avoid taxes, or…

    AND

With a little help from all of the other pampered elected elite, living off taxpayer dollars and all they can skim, be it the Senate or House, they have been and will continue to have the gold and set the rules, for a long damn time.

  12. Environmental issues are one of the few areas where liberals can be called hypocrites.  For them, almost anything goes.  That is usually how conservatives get into trouble.  They do things that they admit were wrong and then the left wags their finger at them.  The SUV bashing from the left is hilarious.  I don’t think we’ll here about them driving around in economy/hybrid cars unless it is to an awards show or something similar.

The more of that crap you consume, the more oil you import/drill for.

But compared to Al Gore’s three 10,000 square-foot climate-controlled homes, it’s a drop in the bucket.
