DUKE AND DREAMBOAT AGREE

• Former KKK leader David Duke, at Iran’s Holocaust denial festival: “Israel’s behaviour in the West Bank and Gaza are the tactics of a rogue, terror state.”

• Former SMH cadet Antony Loewenstein, at the Brisbane Writer’s Festival: “I think Israel is a terrorist state. It is the number one terrorist state in the world.”

Note: I may have mixed up those quotes, they being so similar and all. Click here to see who said what.

  1. Wait, I thought we weren’t supposed to label socio-political entities as “terrorist” anymore.

  2. I love this continuation of the “rogue, terror state” quotation: “Enough with the Holocaust, alleged Palestinian ‘terror’ and victimhood.” Alleged terror? If a suicide bomb on a bus in a residential neighborhood isn’t terrorism, just what is?

These matched quotations do illuminate the key difference between left and right: although David Duke and Antony Lowenstein spew the same racist bile, Duke is a marginal figure on the right, despised by practically every conservative and libertarian; whereas Lowenstein is an honored figure of the mainstream left. That, in a nutshell, is why I am a conservative.

  3. Enough with the Holocaust, alleged Palestinian “terror” and victimhood.

Loewenstein has hit upon a logical sweet spot.  If alleged semtex only blows up Jews into allegedly bloody pieces, why should Israel build walls, launch reprisals and expect sympathy?

  4. #1 yes.  One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.  Therefore, Israel is a “Freedom Fighting” state.

BTW, David Duke’s gonna be pissed when he finds out he’s being trumped by a Jew.

  5. The convergence of their views represents Exhibit A for the validity of Blair’s Law. Maybe Antoine can add “Honorary Grand Kleagle” to the dust jacket of his next “best-selling” book.

  6. Antony Loewenstein and David Duke are ideologically identical.  Blair’s Law is demonstrated once again.

I wonder how Ant will spin his being a soul mate to the former head of the Ku Klux Klan.

It wouldn’t be the first time he has been linked to Nazi groups… Would it?

  8. Nope, Dan, it wouldn’t.  But aside being from different countries and backgrounds, Duke and Loewenstein are two peas in a pod.

  9. I’m waiting for Davey to send Loewy an invitation to one of those after-dark rallies.  That might open somebody’s eyes!  Or not.

  10. Rebeccam I’m sure that Ant would look very fetching when draped with a bedsheet.

Especially when his face is covered.

  11. TRJS, he’d look even more fetching as the guest of honor, standing on a box with a noose around his neck.

  12. It’s a funny thing that mixing up the quotes leads to more ambiguity than switching up the locations where they were uttered. (Although Antony surely deserves to be attending that Iranian conference, and David Duke might find an appreciative audience at the Brisbane Writer’s Festival, too.)

Not that I think any of this will give Antony even a second’s worth of pause.

  13. How true, Rebecca.  The guest of honor must always be dressed appropriately, which means neck ties for men.

    And matching man-bag. Don’t forget the man-bag.

  15. Is that the little purse French men like to carry?

I understand that the Klan has good relations with Farrakhan’s nation of Islam.  It’s the mutual respect of racist antisemites.  See how shared interests can bring us together?

As for the Pali splodeydopes not being terrorists, to a certain type of mind, now alas becoming more common, it’s not terrorism if you are targeting Jews.  The UN, for example, pretty much takes this attitude.  On the other hand, if Jews do it it must be terrorism, no matter how restrained the violence used.  After all, the idea of the persecuted Jews striking back terrorizes those who would carry out genocide, does it not?

  17. Interesting question on Ant’s new found ‘Jewishness’ posted on his site

I have been told that Anthony is an atheist and a socialist. He hates the Jewish community, does not speak Hebrew, does not observe Jewish holidays, traditions, or rituals, and only spent two weeks in Israel for the first time in his life after he had begun blogging his anti-Isreali screeds.

How does that make him a “Jewish” journalist?
