DUCK SEASON

Media attention at a recent anti-war event in Washington mostly centred on the likes of Susan Sarandon and Jane Fonda, but other puppets were also involved:

It’s the majestic Peace Duck! Right now, Michael Leunig is experiencing an intense sensation in his panted regions.

  1. When I stop and think about why I serve my country, I deliberately DO NOT allow this portion of society to enter my thoughts. What do you suppose these folks do for a living? Are they working and living amongst us? Or do they primarily reside in communes, hidden from the rest of us until they are regurgitated at events such as this?
I think they’d better test for lead in their water supply. Something is amiss.

  2. The sad part is the good guys have to go to war to fight for lunatics like this who are trying to undermine our way of life.

The whole mob would be lost without the constant reinforcement of their groupthink comrades where not a word of dissent is breathed.

  11. And, Paco, they should be rendered just as the original Great Auk was, made extinct by a couple of guys who set out to do exactly that.

Are we sure this isn’t supposed to be a giant chicken, though? More fitting.

And Texas Bob, I’m coming closer and closer to telling people not to bother to serve in our armed forces because I’m starting to think we’re finally reached the point where the U.S. does not deserve protecting because it’s full of d*ckh*ads like these protestors.

  15. Hello Texas Bob ... like you, I couldn’t give a flying duck about the protests.

Did anyone notice that Leunig writes under the name of Michael Leunig, Curly World. Curly World? That sounds like a childish (or Leunig’s) description of his panted region.  Like Derek said to Clive, “Round the toilet area”.  Indeed.

Seriously, that is a pathetic looking um, thing.

  19. The anti-war types are parasites in our society.  They receive support, advantage, and the like, from the sacrifices of others without giving any useful or proper return.

  20. What is it with these people and puppets? Is it a latent childhood thing? though some children I have come across certainly are alot smarter. Are they there just to impress and amuse that old tart ‘Hanoi Jane’ Fonda? Or really is it to give inspiration to Sean Penn for his next up and coming feature. This is a disturbing global trend amongst these people, that beggers belief. So many dumb asses, so little talent.

  21. I got kind of depressed this weekend thinking about all this, until I saw this thread over at FR in which some creative captions were applied to a collection of pictures from the protests.

Bah-Steyn made the point in his column this weekend that the only time Pelosi showed any enthusiasm during the President’s SOTU speech was when he mentioned Darfur.  Not that she or any of the rest of the Dem leadership plans to do a damn thing about Darfur, but doy do they care.

Lefties love to posture, but action requires resolve.  Marches like this may make ‘em feel good, but the big, bad world needs more than duck puppetry.

  24. When I hear or read about (can’t bear to look at the pics.) of these so-called peace protestors, I have to really pray not to hate them.  I really resent them, but I know that resentment is like drinking poisin and expecting the other person to die.  Texas Bob (and all other active military), please don’t think that these people represent most Americans.  We just don’t make the nightly news.

  26. #21.  You may be right.  Darfur is the perfect feel good cause for the soft left for the reasons that you stated. (The “Free Tibet” people fall into the same category.) I believe that John Kerry actually advocated sending troops there.  Of course, I do not know if the MSM even questioned him that about the fact the Darfur is a region inside a sovereign nation and what would he do if the Islamic government that rules The Sudan objected to US troops being sent there.

Pelosi & Co. see no linkage between Iraq and Afghanistan.  They can not comprehend that an American defeat in Iraq would spell disaster in Afghanistan (and soon afterward in Pakistan) as the “insurgents” would simply move from Iraq to Afghanistan and would fight with increased zeal after having defeated (in their eyes) the world’s premier military power.  No doubt with a real quagmire in Afghanistan, the left would resurrect the lies that we only really invaded so that we could build a pipeline so we should leave immediately that nation.  I wonder if Pelosi then would still be interested in Darfur?

  28. ladcraig-my pleasure.

Mark-I fear that you are correct.  It would be extremely dishonorable to yield the battlefield to the gang arrayed against us:  they include those who would hang 16-year old girls without a thought, hack the heads off of prisoners on video to post on the internet for recruitment purposes and who think nothing of sending dupes to explode themselves in crowded places to infict maximum damage.  I fear that the Democrats do not much value honor however and that what you outline may yet come to pass.

Are you having trouble making lifelike representations of our feathered friends to warn of the impending destruction of democracy? Then for your next moonbat gathering you need the Poultry Activist Convergence Optimiser. No more uneven stuffing or unrealistic wings drawing the jeers of RWDBs at your latest demonstration when using PACO’s inflatable fowl analogies. Remember, with PACO everything will be ducky and you will love your bill. (Void in California due to greenhouse gas emission standards.)

Says Jane :- “I’m only here to convince the citizens of the USA that Osama is an alright guy and really is a freedom fighter after all. We should pull our troops out of Vietnam immediately.....errr Korea....Panama....Balkins. Say OBL, where exactly are we?”

The Peace Duck will never be able to bring Saddam Hussein, his brats, Abu Nidal, Abu Abbas or Zarqawi back to life.

Quack on, mighty peace duck, those of us who supported the invasion got what we wanted, which is a slew of dead/captured Baathists/terrorists, and the destruction of the Baathist regime.  Obviously, that isn’t what the peace ducks wanted...so they lose.
