DR ELLIS

Poor Cornelia Rau. She’s lately acting on advice from Bob Ellis, as her sister Christine explains:

Christine also criticised the “wisdom” of the treating psychiatrist who gave Ms Rau permission to leave the state and called for her to return to resume treatment.

“It was unwise for the doctors to let her go without taking a blood test to check if she was taking her medication,” Christine Rau said.

Her sister travelled to Melbourne after meeting author Bob Ellis at Adelaide’s Festival of Ideas a week earlier.

Ellis did not return phone calls yesterday, but Christine Rau said he “felt bad about planting the idea in her head to go to the festival”.

Good work, Bob.

  3. p.s. He’s not taking responsibility he’s looking for sympathy and covering his rear.

  4. There is nothing here about what Ellis said - only a characterisation by Christine Rau of how he felt for what might be her own description of Ellis’ role.

  5. Oh, thank God… the stars are back in their proper courses…

  6. A good lesson for everyone out there, don’t ever listen to what Bob Ellis says. When will this idiot go away?
P.S. What sort of ideas are being sprouted at event where Bob Ellis is a guest? Very lame ones I assume.

  7. Seems to be precious little in the media now about how Cornelia misrepresented her identity and put on a phony accent, and said she was ... pretty much anything but who she really is. One report even had her admitting to being an illegal alien, and carrying identity papers in another name.
The indisputable evidence is that she has been treated and continues to require treatment for a serious mental disorder.
Perhaps Ellis has done us a favour (he certainly has done Cornelia none) by highlighting this again, since the media have such short memories. Or is it that it spoilt their government bashing exercise?
There were identity issues with Young/Solon as well, but this cannot be allowed to get in the way of a Sack Amanda campaign.

  8. Occasionally I visit a client that lives near Bob Ellis. I once spotted him in the street by his car, accompanied by a small insect-like dog. Next time I see him I shall ask him how his advice to the mentally ill is working. Bwahahahaha.

  9. What I find most astonishing is the way in which mental illness has now graduated from being an illness and is now a political weapon.

There seems to be little regard for the privacy of an unwell person and the left seem quite comfortable in exploiting illness to hammer their opponents.

  10. erm, so Christine thinks her sister should be locked up?

  11. Why is everyone surprised that the Adelaide Festival of Ideas should be attractive to the mentally ill?

  12. I’ts not called ‘mental illness’ anymore - its ‘reality challenged’.

  13. Abolish mental illness reality challengedness?
    That should make everyone better!

I think it’s “Catch-22” here, Cornelia Rau denies that she is ill.

She’s gone off her medication and hasn’t gone back for treatment and her doctors are concerned (can’t find a link, it was in the weekend paper).

Anyway, it’s all the evil government’s fault for locking her up. Of course.
