DOGS & FLAGS

It’s dog day across the USA! And it’s dog wog blog day here. Also, thanks to Farmer Joe: flag day.

  1. I don’t think Muslims regard dogs very highly.

Sorta O/T - Try getting into Perth with fruit and veg and you’ll get your leg taken off by a very angry Beagle.  My mate’s Guide Dog had a fight with one in the arrivals lounge because he had Dog Food in his hand luggage.  It was very funny.

  2. In WWI the bulldog was Britain’s symbol, and the Pit Bull was America’s.  HSUS (humane society of the united states) slimed the Pit Bull’s reputation in an 80s fund-raising drive (’‘the Pit Bull crisis’‘); the German Shepherd’s reputation survived owning to Rin Tin Tin.

I’m not up on how they train the police dogs today, but the leashes are surprising.  A dog working at liberty is more effective.

  4. The leashes surprised me as well. They seem to be SOP for crowd situations. Too many folks deserving a good bite, I guess.

  5. I own a Union Jack already—had to dig around to find it—and I’ll be flying it in my car window today.  The Brits have always been a little less formal with their flag than we have with Old Glory, but I trust my somewhat unorthodox treatment will be forgiven.
