DENIALISM ON RYRIE STREET

The Geelong Advertiser takes a stand:

Man-made carbon dioxide emissions are not to blame for global warming.

They’re not to blame for rising temperatures, not for polar melting, not for sea levels and not for endangering species around the world.

No way.

Good call.

  1. And in other news.

The Geelong Advertiser has been forced to suspend further publication, pending re-education, for crimes against the prevailing mantra.

  6. Way OT but to do with journalism and standards (or lack thereof). For those who’ve not seen it yet, Sheik Yer’Mami has fallen afoul of a Cairns reporter who is a pal of Bryla’s.

  8. #6, Nilknarf.  The naivety of some journalists, not to mention the failure of the Australian media in general to analyse and compute, will be the downfall of us all.

Not to mention that of Sheik Yer’Mami.  I found this appalling and verging on criminal.

While the content is shocking and it is clear the author deserves some kind of humiliating punishment in the town square, I must say it is a very clear and well written editorial.

  15. #6 I do what I can, from wet and stormy Ottawa. For what it was worth, this was my effort:

[Letter to the Cairns Post editor]

    Sir,
It has been brought to my attention that one of your reporters, Gavin King, has not only falsely represented his intentions to a member of the public, in order to further a political agenda, but in doing so, in revealing the identity of Sheik yermami, put a person’s life at risk.  This man King is either a fool or a dishonest fool.

Now, I know I am in Canada, but I frequent Australia and I like Cairns, so I feel I have a right to participate in this debate.

King must go for endangering the lives of people, and his great ignorance of this fact.

    [/letter]

I do not expect, or even hope, that King will be fired. What I do hope to achieve is some small awakening in the mind of some people in Cairns (like, the editor of the Cairns Post) that there is something big going down, as they say in the movies.

  18. Al Gore agrees-
man-made CO2 not the cause of GW

    Let Fox News explain:-

Sen. Craig Thomas asked Gore the pivotal question of whether atmospheric carbon dioxide increases have historically preceded or followed increases in global temperature.

If temperature increases come before carbon dioxide increases, the notion that manmade greenhouse gas emissions are changing global temperatures would have the cause-and-effect relationship exactly backward.

Gore responded by describing how, depending on the Earth’s tilt and wobble as it revolves around the sun, sometimes carbon dioxide increases precede temperature increases and other times temperature increases precede carbon dioxide increases.
That led attentive listeners to wonder, well, why worry about manmade global warming if it’s the Earth’s tilt and wobble that define the carbon dioxide-temperature relationship?

Apparently realizing his self-defeating statement, Gore then tried to backtrack by saying that currently, carbon dioxide increases are preceding temperature increases. It was a desperate and revealing effort to get back on message”.

The unravelling of Gore is delicious to watch…..

  19. Wait - don’t stop the hysteria just yet!  There’s a new way to fleece wealthy, stupid greenies.  Via Hot Air comes this article about the latest disorder affecting the handwringing set:  “Eco-anxiety.”

Melissa Pickett, an eco-therapist with a practice in Santa Fe, sees anywhere from 40 to 80 eco-anxious patients a month.

Nice work if you can get it.

Yeah it is nice work if you can get it for the adults who should know better.  The problem is these nitwits are consciously trying to scare little children half to death with this Bat Guano.  A Dem Senator raised this issue at the AlGore hearing last week.  She indicated that she knows of 8 year old children who are crying over the penguins dying in the artic.

If these clowns want to take advantage of supposedly grown individuals that is one thing but this is a concentrated effort to scare the pants off of little children so they can be indoctrinated early.  For this they should be shot.

  23. #21 Oh, I’m all for braining the bastards for trying to warp the minds of the kid, up to and including the worthless waste of oxygen that is the Gorifice himself.  Idiot adults who want to shell out cash for “therapy,” however, deserve whatever they get.  They’re probably the same lot who needed therapy for post-election trauma in ‘04.

Pickett’s remedies include telling patients to carry natural objects, like certain minerals, for a period of weeks. Making environmentally friendly lifestyle changes can also prove therapeutic, she said.

And she gets paid for this.  That’s one hell of a racket.

  28. Sorry to keep asking Oz-illiterate questions, but I can’t help it, as I’m a Texan:

  31. Was it not Phineas T. Barnum who observed that “nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the Americn public”?  Or of the Oz multitudes, for that matter.

Gorebal wormenising will spawn legions more like Ms Pickett before the whole thing passes over -she and her ilk will reposition to make money out of the next fad or fear.

And the politicians will doubtless find a way to explain their mindless, headless chook behaviour.
