DELICATE MOVIES IMPORTANT

Sigourney Weaver—an official member of Brave Hollywood—speaks her mind:

I think Hillary Clinton would make a very good president—I think the reason she’ll lose is because she’s a woman and because she was the first lady, and that’s a shame. America’s in a really weird macho phase right now and I think that’s one reason why all these smaller, more delicate movies like Brokeback Mountain are important. The fact that they’re so popular is sending a nice message. Of course, our president still hasn’t bothered to see Brokeback but he will be continued to be asked about it, I’m sure.

Bush hasn’t bothered to see it? Impeachment is more likely by the minute.  It’s a “nice message” Sigourney sends about weird machoism and “delicate” movies; here’s a sample of non-macho quotes from Weaver’s own small, delicate cinema career:

“Get away from her, you bitch!”
—Aliens

“You like this ring? You want to keep the hand this ring is on? If I see or hear or smell you anywhere near my gorillas, you’ll be writing with your other hand and I’ll have a new ashtray.”
—Gorillas in the Mist

“Look, I have ONE job on this lousy ship. It’s STUPID, but I’m gonna do it, OKAY?”
—Galaxy Quest

“I know all about you. You’re just a sad, second rate, boring, impotent little copycat.”
—Copycat

C’mon, Sigourney—go small and delicate, already. Like Hillary’s bridge-support ankles.

  1. DAMN Bush, DAMN him indeed, for not seeing a movie!  DAMN HIM STRAIGHT TO HELL!

  2. And you know Billy Jeff would have not only already seen the movie, he’d have bitten his lower lip and felt Jack and Ennis’ pain…

  3. Obviously, since he’s not seeking re-election, there’s no need to court the gay cowboy vote. Pure cynicism.

  4. Well, she was promoting what looks like an unwatchable Canadian arthouse movie, so that probably fits her definition of “smaller, more delicate movies”.

Personally, I’d rather see her do Ghostbusters III.  If she is going to stick to arthouse movies, could she at least do something with lots of nudity? Say what you want about Sigourney Weaver, she’s still a fine looking woman.

  5. Sigourney is calling macho behavior “weird” is the pot calling the kettle black.

Maybe she’s upset that she wasn’t offered a role in “Brokeback Mountain”?

  6. What, is going to see Brokeback Mountain some kind of mandatory rite?  Frankly, I don’t like Jake Gyllenhaal, and Heath Ledger is not in my top ten either, so if I ever see that movie it’ll be on late-night HBO when I can’t sleep.  Or am I offending delicate, non-macho sensitivities?

  7. Of course, our president still hasn’t bothered to see Brokeback but he will be continued to be asked about it, I’m sure.

Continue to be asked about it?  Has he ever been asked about it?  And if he has been ... why, exactly?  The media are always grumping about how inaccessible President Bush is.  What kind of journalistic idiot wastes a hard-won opportunity to query the leader of the free world on a question about a stupid movie?

She did call him ‘our president,’ though.  If the moonbats notice that slip, she’ll be paying for it.

  8. Don’t forget, Sigourney has a special insight into Hillary! because she (Signourney) played a first lady in Dave. As for Bush “not bothering” to see Brokeback Mountain, well, neither have I: so sue me.

  9. And before I forget, from the original article, The Alien Killer™ sayeth:

...I think Hillary Clinton would make a very good president - I think the reason she’ll lose is because she’s a woman and because she was the first lady, and that’s a shame.

Hillary would lose because she’s a greedy, self-centered and self-serving politician with all the warmth of an angry cobra.  And she would lose because most American voters can see right through her very thin facade.

  10. Actually, some college kid asked Bush if he’d seen it yet, and Bush said something to the effect of “no, not yet, but I know what it’s about.  You wanna talk about mulch?”

It was, all in all, pretty witty and no doubt far above Ms. Weaver’s comprehension.

  11. Yes, I’m right in the middle of my really weird macho phase.

Which is also why I won’t be going to see “Humpbutt Mountain” anytime soon!

I would imagine she’d be the Eddie the Eagle of politics or has Clooney grabbed that…

  20. Sigourney Weaver? Isin’t that Cindy Sheehan in drag? I understand media whore Cindy is going to camp outside of the President’s ranch and keep asking that question over and over again until he comes out and tells the American people when he’s going to see Humper Mountain. Screw the war on Terrorism. Let’s go to the movies.

  21. I liked her in Galaxy Quest. I think one could make the argument that today’s Hollywood poseurs are the Galaxy Quest crew writ large - coming from an utterly fake environment, they’re thrust into an incomprehensible reality, to stumble around and fight evil forces they only vaguely understand.

I doubt they’ll be as successful as the GQ crew, though.

  29. I reckon that if entertainers wish to subject us to their expertise in politics then entertainers should be subjected to politicians demonstrating their expertise at entertainment.

So sit back Sigourney and enjoy the musical renditions of Alexander Downer and Colin Powell.

Only then might they begin to understand.

  30. Only someone inside the Hollywood bubble could think “delicate” is a good way to describe Brokeback Mountain, which was directed by a famous director (not some indie up-and-comer), has an ad campaign that makes the one for entire Star Wars franchise look subtle, and has been nominated for just about every Oscar category that exists, except possibly the one for best dance routine in a musical.

They’ll have to invent another monster.
No matter who’s in the White House, left or right, the U.S. President is automatically, reflexively vilified by these completely mindless frauds.
I think I’ll refer to them as Leunigs from now on.

  36. No Brian, the Hollywood leftoids just loved Bill Clinton, and his lip biting.  Don’t you remember the picture of two of them joyously jumping on the bed in the Lincoln Bedroom, like a couple of ditzy teenage girls on a sleepover?  Bill is their kinda guy.  Of course, he did not pay any attention to the substantive business of government, but then neither do the moonbat, airheaded, Hollywood leftoids.

  41. Brokeback Mountain was never meant as a film for people to see. It was always a film meant for people not to see, and for our so-called betters to whinge about us not seeing it, and that it proves the basis of their “beliefs”, i.e. we are not fit to rule ourselves.
