CONSENSUS BUILDING

New Zealanders, Canadians, and Germans already know Kyoto is a crock. Now they’re joined by Turks.

  2. The Turks obviously will never qualify to join the EU - they simply lack the prerequisite stupidity.

  4. Don’t forget that the Americans, Australians, Indians & Chinese also know it’s a crock. And how many countries signed on knowing it was a crock but thought there was something in it for them?

  5. The Turks must have finally figured out they aren’t getting in the EU.

No need, the EU in actuality is, THE Islamist Union.

  7. And now the claim is that goebbels whithering will cause wind shear, weakening hurricanes.

Forget polar bears, will no one think of the poor hurricanes?

    Posted by rbj1 on 2007 04 18 at 12:50 PM • permalink

  8. That wind shear article is odd, I thought there would not be any positive benefits of warming. I thought that it would increase poison ivy growth and decrease production of wheat. I thought it would increase the growth of ragweed, but decrease maize production. Not to mention that the rice paddies that feed asia are a huge source of methane.

Of course, the closer you look at the models, the more ridiculous they are, but still, it is about propaganda with the warmers now, not science, and that will be a link I will be keeping. Thanks.

I asked an AGW believer how the polar bears managed to survive the three thousand years of a warmer climate than we have now in the time when, oddly enough, civilizations first developed, as measured by ice cores in the arctic area. His answer? We’ll see if they survive this time.

  9. In our lifetimes, I predict that Turkey will feel right at home in the new EU. It will be ethnic Europeans who will feel excluded.

  11. Actually that is a pretty confused analysis.  As a developing country, Turkey could sign up and not have to anything about emissions.  It also appeared to believe that Australia and the USA had actually signed kyoto.  Must have been talking to the authors through one of their cousins (like a game of telephone).  The paper must be about the potential cost if they were forced to comply with emissions targets.

  12. Yes, New Zealanders, Canadians, Germans and Turks may have figured out Kyoto is a crock, but their political classes—whoknow it’s a crock—still see it as a way for those who produce nothing to get control over those who do.

Entropy:  IIRC, the U.S. Senate would need to ratify, and rejected Kyoto 95-0.

  13. On the other hand, Greece and Portugal can increase emissions by 27 percent, followed by 1 percent for Norway and 8 percent for Australia.

Does K Rudd know about this?  We can actually INCREASE our emissions under Kyoto?  Really?  Where do I sign?

Looks like we’ve still got a lot of work to do, Blairites, to catch up to Norway. They only have to increase their emissions by 1%.  Flick those switches. We’ve just got to get our emissions up. Aussies ain’t second to no one.

  35. #22 Right, Aaron: Kyoto is not a “crock”, it is a fully viable way of manipulating people.

Like the communists, the Koyotes are never going to admit to failing.
    They just say,
“Well, we had an idea and we tried, and we are sure it’s going to work when we have another go at it…”

That was Kurt Vonnegut’s lame, senile view of communism too…

  36. “An Australian scientist called Wednesday for an end to the age-old tradition of cremation, saying the practice contributed to global warming.
Professor Roger Short said people could instead choose to help the environment after death by being buried in a cardboard box under a tree. The decomposing bodies would provide the tree with nutrients, and the tree would convert carbon dioxide into life-giving oxygen for decades, he said.
I think it was William Buckley who said that a liberal is a person who, when you’re taking a shower, wants to reach in and adjust the temperature for you. Historically, though, one thing you could say for liberals was that their desire to run your life at least expired with your demise. No longer, apparently.”

Seem to recall a few years back there were lots of greenies running around demanding an end to burials because they took up too much space. They saw cemeteries as ideal locations for high-rise, windowless, low-energy, environmentally sustainable concrete boxes for the working class to live, thus shrinking the size of cities and making more room for national parks.

Wait a minute—if you cremate someone, you burn a casket, too?!  Forget Gaia, that’s just a waste of money.

In my quest to be carbon neutral and to free building space for urban development, please put me in a cardboard box and burn the whole lot.

And in homage to my white trash upbringing, be sure to bring a folding chair and sit around the fire with beer, telling stories that everyone has already heard.

    Thanks heaps!
