CLEAR NEED IDENTIFIED

“It is clear,” writes Molly Ivins, “ we will need to practice hard on our credulity in the future.” Good advice, especially to everybody who believed Ivins’ previous piece in which she repeated the Little Red Book lie. Hey, Molly; is it lying or not telling the truth?

(Ivins, of course, has something of an unfortunate record over the years. Practice that credulity!)

  1. The late F.T.Grampp used to use a credulity defense

    JHs:  Hi, we’re Jehovah’s Witnesses

    FTG: Hi, I’m God

    JHs: [depart down sidewalk]

  2. Ivins has been sounding a shrill alarm over the always-imminent Dubya dictatorship for five years.  She needs to find some new material. Perhaps she should go back to plagiarizing Florence King.

  5. Isn’t credulity something that you put in a tire to keep it from going flat? Maybe she needs to pump more?

  6. Ivins has gone well beyond her “use by” date. She hearkens back to the day of the yellow dog Democrat - the proverbial Texas Democrat who would vote for a yellow dog rather than for a Republican - but Democrats actually stood for something then. These days, with a few honorable exceptions, Democrats don’t represent anything but a bullpen full of relief pitchers, constantly warming up for no better purpose than to throw rotten vegetables at George Bush. Not much of a platform.
