CLARITY ALERT

Louise Dodson explains stuff:

The survey found 35.2 per cent thought it was better when the government
did not control the Senate, 16.8 per cent said it was much better, while
16.9 per cent thought it was better when the government controlled both
houses, with a further 17 per cent saying it was much better. Only 14 per
cent said it didn’t matter.

Everyone clear on that? Good. Also in The Age, Michael Gawenda recalls traveling with Vatican staff:

The Secretary of State sat quietly, reading Frederick Forsyth’s The Devil’s Advocate. I wondered what had drawn him to the book.

As reader Scott H. points out: “Frederick Forsythe wrote The Devil’s Alternative; The Devil’s Advocate, which is actually about a Vatical official, was written by Aussie Morris West.”

  2. “You ever see that scene in Scanners where the dude’s head explodes?” Yeah, well, I just experienced it first hand.

Holy Time Warp! I thought the Govt won’t control the Senate until July.

  7. Is Louise Dodson related to the sham ‘aboriginal’ Dodson’s that have been rorting A.T.S.I.C for years?

  8. One thing is clear. If we can find enough polls with enlightened results, we can prove to all those proles out there that voted the wrong way, that democracy only works when it gives the result WE want. Anything else is dangerous!

  9. The Devil’s Alternative is an okay read, but I prefer The Dogs Of War to this one, and The Day Of The Jackal is better than both of them. Sometimes I wonder if these journalists have read The Fourth Protocol, by the way they write it certainly looks like it.

  10. Actually, Dodson’s article makes a couple of valid points.  It’s not too bad by Silly Moaning Herald standards.

Maybe it’s just that I deal with stats all day but I find the stats Tim quoted quite interesting and informative.  A similar post-election survey has been conducted for many years now and has revealed some very interesting results - one being that Labor candidates are seriously out of touch with Labour voters on a wide range of “social” issues, unlike coalition candidates and their constituency.

Needless to say, ALP candidates are hugely more “politicaly correct” than the fairly socially conservative blue collar/blue singlet component of their power base.  The inner-city latte-socialist element of the constituency is massively over-represented among candidates.

  11. PS Sotelli:  The other 0.1% probably dribbled so badly on their survey forms that their responses were illegible.  Sad but true!

  14. Rosceo- re: the Dodson brothers-in the late 90’s either Mick or Pat Dodson had a press conference about Aboriginal deaths in custody.  They decided to include in their figures Aboriginal kids who had died crashing their stolen cars while pursued by coppers.

  18. This is the second go Dodson has had at this topic. The essential thrust of her convoluted wishful thinking seems to be that as soon as John Howard takes control of the Senate, her hero,Bomber Beasley, will have the little bugger right where he want’s him.Keep taking the medication Louise, perhaps even think about doubling the dose.
