CHAP OVERCHARGED
Warmenologist Michael Molitor - he’s robust! - is profiled in the SMH (no link available):
• I don’t like talking about ... politics. I get deeply emotional about the lack of a meaningful political response to climate change.
• What I don’t find amusing is ... people who distort the science of climate change to persuade other people not to take action.
• If I were a car I’d be ... a 350Kw hydrogen fuel cell sportscar.
• Friends say I am ... overcharged with energy and enthusiasm.
Thinks rather a lot of himself, doesn’t he? Further self-worshipping profiles here.
If this guy puts his trust in “a meaningful political response” to change any problem, he’s nuts. And why waste time getting “deeply emotional” about it? My attitude is simpler: if someone perceives that society is facing a problem, and they feel strongly about it, there’s nothing stopping them from taking some sort of concrete action against it. (i.e., not punditing, but actual physical effort of some type.)
But I guess he’s too busy getting interviewed to do anything about global warming himself.
Was standing naked on a glacier, Dr. Alice?

Instead of him plugging into the grid, how about the grid plugging into him? Maybe we could eliminate a coal plant or two.

And then there’s the Water fueled lawnmower

Emotional stake in public statement = time since statement made X number of people who heard you X embarrassment of public retraction
Power = degree of alignment between allocation of other people’s resources with your personal preferences
Emotion + power X < (approx) 1000 people = cult
Emotion + Power X > 1000 people = religionMore than a thousand people have been banging about CC, for too long, insisting that we reallocate our resources according to their preferences, and the emotional stake is now too great for any evidence to force a retraction.
It’s a religion.Posted by ooh honey honey on 2007 08 19 at 07:09 AM • permalink
