CARTOONIST BELIEVES
Ted Rall joins the plastic turkey tribe some seventeen months after the lie was first published, and nearly a year after the New York Times ran a correction:
The Thanksgiving turkey Bush presented to the troops turned out to be plastic, as much of a staged photo op as the gloriously iconic and phony toppling of Saddam’s statue in Baghdad by jubilant Iraqi civilians ...
Rall is a polystyrene stoat currently occupying New Jersey landfill.
UPDATE. If it’s ABC policy to remove errors of fact from online transcripts, what’s the deal with this?
The company was responsible for providing thanksgiving dinner to none other than US President George Bush when he made a surprise visit to Baghdad last year, appearing in front of the cameras offering US troops that plastic turkey on a tray.
Don’t these people have editors?
Certainly. However, those “editors” are as ignorant, biased, and malevolant as those making the lie.

I thought I saw Yoda in there somewhere.

Isn’t that basically what Rall’s comics are?

Actually, in that earlier TB post mentioned above, ( “nearly a year after the New York Times ran a correction:” ) the NYT correction which is pointed to, (in “...the New York Times has published a fake turkey correction:”) goes only to a current corrections page. In other words, corrections for yesterday—it’s not a permanent link to the turkey stuff.
We should have that permalink handy, no? I tried, but I wasn’t clever enough to find it from their search engine… Maybe it was a plastic turkey? :)

Posted by mamapajamas on 2005 05 18 at 10:31 PM • permalinkSpeaking of turkeys, did anyone see SBS TV last night with Mr Trad on Dateline. Apparently the good mufti is trying to work out how he is to sneak out of Iraq with the hostages so as not to be caught out by the Americans - who are no doubt planning a Sgrena incident to keep people quiet.
Errm, or something like that.
Strangely George Negus was quite content to go along with it all without questioning anything. Amazing.
How many members are there now, of the Plastic Turkey Tribe? Has anyone compiled a list?
:^P

George Lucas said something in France last week about the allegory to erosion of democracy under Bush.
So our Lefties will probably pick up on it over the weekend.
Having just watched the movie the Sith display clearly the deception by means of moral relativism and subte nuance of the left more than anything else.

Media watch what part of this constant unprofessional story cant you get your head around. Its a deluge!!! You continue to ignore both of these Main Stream Media Missinformation Campaigns (MSMMC). Surely a WHOLE episode could be devoted to this. Tell us why you are ignoring this? Do we need a thousand lies to get on? Is it ten thousand? How many do we need?
