BOOKS UNSTOCKED
Important theological news from the Age:
Christian bookshops refuse to stock gay study Bible
This awful intolerance is everywhere. Why, you should have heard what they told me when I asked my local Islamic bookstore for a copy of The Man-On-Man Koran.
And those intolerant Christians are keeping atheists’ books out of parochial grade schools in Canada, too. (And whose complaints just happen to coincide with a movie release. BTW, nice ad for the book included in the “news story”. Random House, you say. I’ll have to go to Amazon right now and buy one.)

I’m no Greek scholar, but that right there makes me giggle.

The egregious Archbishop of Canterbury encourages such thinking by howing into the USA for its terrible sin of trying to improve Saddam’s Iraq.
He was, of course, speaking in support of Islamic chauvinism, the ummah where his church is severely restricted or actually banned.I wonder if they can beat the sheer awfulness that is Jack Chick?
Heres his take on homosexuality.
Posted by thefrollickingmole on 2007 11 25 at 07:16 PM • permalinkMore low rent gibes at Islam. What more can one expect in this trough of despair. Guess you have to lash out at someone now your agenda lies dead in the gutter, drowned on its own vomit.

Well, just so they aren’t behind me.
Posted by Steve Skubinna on 2007 11 26 at 12:50 AM • permalinkWhoof, what’s Miranda so cheesed about? She sounds like her side lost the election. Graceful in victory, as expected.
Posted by Steve Skubinna on 2007 11 26 at 12:58 AM • permalink“I thought we could cuddle.”
“Cuddle?? What a fag!”-The Boondock Saints. No actually, that wasn’t an anti-gay diatribe, gentle readers: go watch the movie, you’ll love it.
Heyo Miranda, you may have noted we’re all rather chipper around here, because our malevolent memes have found a new and more viable host and are playing him like a puppet. Contrary to our two glum posters, I am taking bets on how many yet-to-be-implemented Howard policies get quietly implemented by Rudd- much like Thatcher policies by Hawke and Keating. You did notice how very… VERY closely Rudd has modeled himself on those two right?
So rant on Miranda. Howard has pretty much set the agenda for Rudd’s first term. Expect big, big displays of Me No Howard, but watch the hands moving behind the silk hankies and puffs of smoke:
RATIFIES KYOTO!! /leaves coal alone/
BANS A.W.A.S!! /but legislates something functionally identical/
CO-OPERATES WITH THE STATES!! /but maintains and expands all interventions in State affairs/
So I gotta say, pretty cheerful here actually.
ON TOPIC: In the original Greek, the act that those who convert to Christianity must now refrain from is “arsenkoites” and it’s pretty literal, frank and clear.SORTA ON TOPIC: Chick may or may not be a Christian, but he is certainly pretty damn unbalanced.
Let’s have a whip-round to send Amanda to express her solidarity with the banlieus…

I hope that isn’t a veiled reference to Saudi justice, richard, because that would be just more low rent gibes at Islam. And we couldn’t have you flogging that horse here at Tim’s.
Posted by andycanuck on 2007 11 26 at 10:42 AM • permalinkActually, whip-round sounds vaguely distasteful, like one of those things everyone does in private but considers boorish to discuss.

Tim, just be grateful that they told you rather than what they usually do.
