BOMB AFTERMATH
Newcastle’s Jennifer Williamson, on her first visit to Bali, is the second Australian confirmed dead following the bomb attacks. The first was Perth teenager Brendan Fitzgerald:
A family spokesman says the boy’s 43-year-old father Terry is in a critical condition at Sangla Hospital in Denpasar, while his 13-year-old sister Jessica is in a serious but stable condition.
The spokesman says it was the first overseas trip for both the children, and they were due to return home tomorrow.
Another family had just returned to Bali:
An Australian family holidaying in Bali during the 2002 nightclub blasts had returned to the Indonesian resort island for the first time two weeks ago, only to be caught up in the latest blasts.
Meanwhile, reports that the attacks were carried out by suicide bombers are in dispute, despite certain evidence:
“They have three heads that they’re examining and that’s a typical outcome from a suicide bomber, but that’s not yet confirmed,” said Australian Federal Police chief Mick Keelty.
Some witnesses claim bombs were thrown rather than worn:
“A bomb went off right under our table,” said Joe Frost, 20, of Newcastle, who had been out with about 17 friends from his home city when bombs rocked two cafes at Bali’s popular Jimbaran beach.
“Someone ran past and threw it under there.
“The next thing I know I’m thrown to the ground. It’s all black and I can’t hear anything.”
Frost said he didn’t see the bomb thrower, but said two of his friends did.
Rumours of unexploded bombs are also circulating:
Emergency workers and local shopkeepers claimed another two bombs apparently failed to detonate because their mobile phone triggers failed to work when the local phone network collapsed after the initial two blasts.
Perth’s Gareth Parker writes to correct an earlier piece that claimed Australians in Bali had received detailed warnings of a bomb attack:
I’ve just spoken to Mick Collis, the Perth rugby player quoted on AAP, and his mate in Bali who gave the supposed warning. The story as it appears on AAP is rubbish. The local, a bloke called Hamish Sutherland, was only speaking in general terms. He had no specific information about any potential threats. He was just offering general advice that Saturday nights are not a good time to go out to tourist areas. Hamish teaches in a local international school and in that role has some responsibility for security. He was only aware of the general “bomb season” warnings made by the likes of SBY.
Speaking of warnings, Geoffrey Gold in Jakarta received the following automated e-mail last Thursday from the Australian government’s Smartraveller advisory service:
Australians are advised to defer non-essential travel to Indonesia. Australians in Indonesia who are concerned for their safety should consider departing. Australians who consider their presence in Indonesia to be essential should exercise extreme caution. The recommendation that Australians defer non-essential travel applies to Indonesia as a whole, including Bali.
We continue to receive a stream of credible reporting suggesting that terrorists are in the advanced stages of planning attacks against Western interests inIndonesia. Attacks could occur at any time, anywhere in Indonesia and could be directed at any locations known to be frequented by foreigners. The bomb attack outside the Australian Embassy on 9 September 2004 underscores that the threat to Australians in Indonesia is real. On 29 August, Indonesian President Yudhoyono called for heightened security in Indonesia during September and October due to the risk of terrorist attack.
I feel tremendously for the Balinese as well as the victims. The poor Hindu Balinese have no truck with killing Westerners, and rely on our tourism dollars to create livelihoods for them and their children. I don’t think the tourism industry in Bali is going to recover the second time around. Or at least, not for a very long time.
If we caught the vile pieces of shit who planned and executed this attack and decided to get Koranic on their arses, I’m pretty sure the Balinese would be at the front of the queue, hurling the sharpest stones.

But it won’t happen. The Indonesians will keep giving dope traffickers sentences which are 6 times as long as those of the terrorist leaders, while giving summary executions, mass rape and other mass atrocities to any Balinese who might try to secede. And without any shadow of a doubt you will heard muslime infiltraitors in Australia whining that muslimes are being unfairly linked with terrorism for NO REASON AT ALL other than the “racism” of Australians.

It is a shame for the Hindi Balinese who are going to lose their livelyhoods because of this. Put it in context though, the Indonesian government has not done anywhere near enough to combat terrorism and should be held accountable for this happening. While they run around yelping for the death penalty for Australians they are letting scum like Bashir out of goal.
There are plenty of places with all the attractions of Bali. We should go elsewhere and hit the indonesian government where it hurts until they actually do something to protect the value of Bali’s tourism industry. This is important for so many reasons, not least of which being that the terrorists objective is to drive tourists away with their moderate ideas and money that provides jobs, education and all the rest for the people of Bali.Fox Newsjust showed an amateur video shot inside the club when the bomb went off. They haven’t put it up on their website yet. You’ll want to keep an eye out for it. FYI, it wasn’t gory, just the blast and a lot of smoke etc. It did seem to show a guy with a backpack that went off.
Message to any diggers, yanks and squaddies in Iraq and Afghanistan: kill some of the fuckers for those in Bali.

#11, I had that very thought today when I heard that Ramadan starts next week. It seems as if there’s always violence when Ramadan rolls around, but I suppose if you starve yourself from daybreak to sundown every day for a month, it would tend to make you mean.
More seriously, my condolences to the families of the dead and wounded.

He needs to take a bit of a chill pill, though, I am sure that any foreign tourists caught up in the bombing would be just a bonus to the terrorists (for all they know it could have been a group of chinese politicians at the tables) - this was about making things difficult for SBY and indonesian democracy in general.
This is a desperately evil act perpetrated by people motivated by an evil ideology/religion. What ncredible suffering in so many lives will ensue from these actions.
I missed the last Bali bombings by 2 days 3 years ago, having visited Christian refugees (20,000) displaced by Jihadist forces from the Maluku area. A group from our church are visiting Christians there at this time. This is not simply an Anti West phenomenon. Indonesian non-Muslims i.e. Balinese Hindus and Christians have suffered more than we could comprehend, we just don’t hear about it.
Not a bad analysis of the Jihadist Strategy in the SMH
http://www.smh.com.au/news/opinion/crackdown-could-strengthen-the-jihadist-cause/2005/10/02/1128191602912.htmlBut when are we going to get an analysis of exactly what these Jihadist believe and how they understand the Koran in the SMH.
And then when are we going to see their core beliefs debated? This evil needs to be opposed intellectually and not just by “Moderate Muslims”.
When the “Catch the Fire” Pastors in Victoria attempted such a thing they ended up being charged for it.
A little detail Oz has never heard about from our detention centres.
We had a large group of Indos (200 or so)From Banda Ache (not sure of spelling) just after the east Timor hand over. Christians and seeking refugee status.
Due to the sensitivities of the Indo government (I assume) the whole group was kept in seperation from the rest of the compound for their entire stay. I believe many of them were granted asylum but it was extremely hush hush.
Especialy when you consider we had troops in ET at the time.
These people were copping a flogging in Ache becuse they were Christian. Im not religous but surely enough is enough. They say they want to kill, introduce shiarah law, and take over. And there’s the problem.
By plunging Bali into poverty and chaos, the terrorists win. Fundamental Islam can only survive and flourish in such environments. Witness any Islamic Arab country to see this first-hand.
Conversely, Militant Islam withers in democracies or countries where people can choose a better life for themselves.
Whilst you’ll hear plenty of people say the bombs were aimed at us becuase of Iraq etc. That wasn’t why they hit Western targets and such arguments are as stupid as those who make them.
The terrorists were trying instead to kill the local tourist market.Funnily enough, if the last bomb and Schapelle Corby didn’t do it, I’m not sure this one will either…
I hope it doesn’t.
If anyone wants to risk their lives in Bali “to help the beautiful Balinese people and their economy” please feel free to go and do so.
Just don’t take your children with you, unlike some of the maroons who went there yesterday.

And Tony Kevin prattling on about black helicopters over Canberra. That would have to be one of the more paranoid ramblings I have seen for years, and it got general support in the comments!
And then there was the defense of Irwin’s discraceful joooo-bating in parliament. Apparently the hoohah was all a misrepresentation by that ‘evil black dwarf’ Glenn Milne, supported by that pathetic leader Beasley, over mere quibbles of language (eg. ghetto, gaza as a concentration camp etc).

Had a look at the link to Margo and the Tony Kevin comments. Hilarious.
I live in Canberra and was home with my daughter and son for the school holidays.
The evil helicopters flew over my suburb a few times. Funnily enough I didn’t immediately jump to the conclusion that these were armed-to the teeth craft on a search and destroy mission ordered by demonic Howard minions. I assumed they were on a practice run. I just got my kids to waive at them which I thought was the normal reaction to low flying aircraft.
But then again I’m not an over-the-hill paranoid who has to rest on the laurels of a past diplomatic career. Not yet anyway.
Of course the unfortunate Hindus of Bali are not even “people of the book” according to islam. They are pure idolaters, worthless worshippers of statues who have one choice only convert to Islam or Die!
Bali is therefore seen as an effrontary or insult to Islam by the Jihadists , rather like east Timor or Israel- countries, surrounded by the ummah, that have to be brought to their knees thru terror until weakened to the point that they accept the domination of Islam.
So the attacks are in fact primarily aimed at the Balinese themselves , the killing of white infidels is merely a bonus to the jihadists and will have the dual purpose of btinging Bali to its knees economiccally , which is where the jihadists want it.As you will see in Andrew Bostom’s new book.
“How come when one or two bombs go off in Bali we panic like whining children and say we all have to stay home but bombs go off every day of the week in Iraq and we send more and more people.
It’s time to grow up about this. Do you know Robert Fisk said that this would happen without a shadow of a doubt just hours before it did. Howard’s claim that it is an attack on Indonesia’s democracy is the most inane thing he has said about the so-called war on terrorism.
During last century over 100 million people were killed in wars yet 25 or 30 or 200 killed in a few bombs send the world today into an absolute frenzy. I have been reading posts all day that say we have to punish these suicide bombers more. Just how do we think we might do that do you think?

Message from abc being equate Bush with a paedophile and a convicted swindler.
BTW- i have it on good authority that the helicopters were not on anti-terrorist operations to impress state premiers, they were actually on shark patrol of Lake Burley Griffin, in patricular on the lookout for white pointers.
Of course abc is busily four cornering the REAL evil doers of the world, ALCOA- Described as AMERICANS LIVING COMFORTABLY OFF AUSTRALIA. Now I might not entirely agree with a lot that alcoa does but I do think there are more pressing subjects at the present time.
Meanwhile back at sbs for special people Mother kos takidis describes injured victims from Bali “their injuries were similar to those suffered by victims of WAR”.In case we didn’t get the message a correspondent followed up with"injuries more consistent with IRAQ than a tropical paradise.”
Saram Pyatt followed on with the comment that tourism had slowed after Bali (one) but “Bali had made itself so CHEAP that only the wariest tourist stayed away.” and “....those tourists who will go ANYWHERE for a ROCK BOTTOM HOLIDAY.”
These statements devalue the sentiments of many tourists in wishing to holiday with the beautiful Balinese and allowing their area to profit.
Kos takidis interestingly came out with “Melbourne TOURISM suspect Jack Thomas.” and the predictable “Lyn Allison says Australian anti terror laws are eroding the civil liberties of muslims.”
Followed by promo smug Mother Brockey for her programme “Insult”.

No doubt the usual 20 odd suspects will put forward the usual agitprop.Unrepresentative swill said Keating. It looks like it’s begun:
http://www.homelandsecurityus.com/
2 October 2005; 11:50 p.m.: Law enforcement sources close to the Northeast Intelligence Network have confirmed that search and seizure warrants were served today upon the residence of the “suicide bomber, 21-year-old Joel Henry Hinrichs III of Colorado Springs, CO, who was a resident of the Park View Apartments on campus. Speaking strictly “off the record,” the officials stated that they recovered “a significant amount” of Islamic “Jihad” type literature, some possibly written in Arabic, along with the suspect’s computer. Some of the documentation included material on how to construct bomb-making vests.
Further reports by the same officials indicated that the bomb was detonated prematurely when the suspect was either arming a bomb vest or backpack, which contained TATP, a homemade explosive. TATP (triacetone triperoxide) is a very potent but relatively easily manufactured explosive compound that was used in the July London bombings. It is important to note that TATP has been cited in numerous Jihad bomb-making manuals.
The same officials, requiring anonymity as the investigation is ongoing, continued to confirm that “other un-detonated explosive devices were found in the area cordoned off by police and federal officials.” Those devices WERE NOT DETONATED, but carefully confiscated for further forensic testing. Initially, information provided to the Northeast Intelligence Network suggested that that the so-called “suicide-bomber” was attempting to attach bombs to the buses parked in the area when one of the bombs detonated prematurely. The investigation has expanded into the possibility that others might have been involved.
Do you know Robert Fisk said that this would happen without a shadow of a doubt just hours before it did.
What? Is there any possibility that Fisk is Jewish…? Did anyone see any potential Mossad agents hanging around Kuta before the bomb went off? This is all deeply suspicious. Someone call the terrorism hotline, quick! Fisk has some explaining to do! Congratulations Marylin for finding this new and promising lead.

I think we’re going to find out that our little Okee bomber was a home grown jihadi and was mixed up with Islamic terrorists. When that happens, I wonder if it will hit the news or will we still see re-runs of the “Mother Sheehan” bus tour?
# 64. Thank you Mark Steyn. He could go further and point out that the Jihadists take the Koran seriously and are the product of what it contains.
I have met the survivors of Jihadist ethnic cleansing in Indonesia. They have required entire Christian villages to convert to Islam or die. Conversion means circumcision for the women, repetition of their creed and the denial of their Christian faith. Those who won’t are ritually executed.
Bombings are a regular occurrence in Christian Central Sulawesi particularly directed at the Christian leadership. Is anyone ever arrested? No.
Consider how the Non-Muslims are being treated in Irian Jaya.
Generally all this is reported as a sectarian conflict if at all.

They do not kill us because we are richer; they do not kill us because we intervened in Iraq; they kill us because we are not Muslim.
We are facing the purest form of religious hatred.
Those who believe otherwise are a danger to themselves and us.
It is time for the hippie-dippies to grow up. Maybe they should put away the collected works of Marilyn Shepherd for a while and try a lightweight like John Stuart Mill:
If civilisation has got the better of barbarism when barbarism had the world to itself, it is too much to profess to be afraid lest barbarism, after having been fairly got under should revive and conquer civilisation. A civilisation that can thus succumb to its vanquished enemy must first have become so degenerate, that neither its appointed priests and teachers, nor anybody else, has the capacity, or will take the trouble, to stand up for it. If this be so, the sooner such a civilisation received notice to quit the better.
The West was once torn apart by a religious intolerance that now threatens both the Muslim world and ours. It is time, for the sake of both civilisations that we stand up for the freedoms won by our ancestors against these New Barbarians.
We have only to deal with a few ideologically-raddled nutters on the left; Muslims who want to win the religion taken from them by murderers have a much harder task. Not only is their religion becoming more radical but too many of their governments are poisoned with corruption and authoritarianism. They will be only too happy to feed radicalism if the killers can be set loose on the infidel and, they hope, leave them alone.
The West is facing a crisis which will get much worse before it gets better, I’m afraid. But we must not go into this with our eyes closed as some seem intent on doing.

Great comment you wrote over ‘there” so it’s only a matter of time before they find an excuse to “rub you out” for making too much sense and having logical priorities.

Thanks for telling me the details of Bali- I was unaware.
One thing to me that is frightening is the geography of the place-essentailly what is it an archipelago of jungles? If that’s true it seems like Terrorist Heaven.

Until the likes of tony Blair and Bush stop talking about the lunatic fringe of Islam hijacking the religion of peace, we will have no idea of what faces us.
On top of the moonbat idiots (one phoned the local station to say Bali was a plot hatched by John Howard this morning) we have a similarly idiotic press steeped in PC and multicuurism whose prime purpose is to excuse every outrage and blame it on the victims .
