BET MORE THAN HONOURED

Reader Andrew Richards bet $1000 that the ALP would name a union official or similar to contest the seat of Werriwa (abandoned following Mark Latham’s panco attack).

Andrew subsequently faced a dilemma when the ALP rolled out a former unionist. Here’s the resolution:

I felt that the Salvation Army had been deprived of a donation by the swift footwork of the ALP in nominating to replace Mark Latham a Potemkin Village small businessman as, behind this façade, was the usual boring old fart unionist.

So, to put an end to the matter and avoid a scandal, I today made an ex gratia payment with a denial of liability (as the lawyers say) of $1000 to the Sallies.

  4. Why didn’t they put up the Labour Party’s old mate, John Marsden? He’s a well-known local celebrity. Or else there’s MarkL’s best friend, the developer of Orange Grove.

    Both are much more colourful.
