BEAR EATS

A note from Harry Bergeron: “Panty-wetting Greentards are having trouble sleeping after Knut did what polar bears do - kill fish, eat parts of them, and leave a mess.”

UPDATE:

• The Independent: “Knut is a psychopath and will never mate.”

Secular Apostate: “I agree that disemboweling live fish may seem crude to the Western envirophilicus effeteicus eye, but Knut is from a different culture. A culture where bloodlust is the highest good. And who are we to judge?”

Aaron Hotfelder: “Knut, the once-cute celebrity polar bear turned vicious killer, is at the center of a controversy over his brutal slaughter of ten carp at the Berlin Zoo.”

Political Scientist: “What odd and mutually contradictory ideas people have about animals.”

ZombieSkittles: “He’s a FISH KILLER!”

UPDATE II. Flocke the bear - she’s the new Knut - lunges at a cucumber sandwich:

I can see a job for Dr grant blashki doing a bit of counselling with Knut; hopfully it will be face-to-face, and then Knut can engage in a bit more natural behaviour.

How quaint.  I’m sure Knut enjoyed his game.

Many many years ago now, when I was at school this form of narrative was referred to as personification.  And boy, did we get into trouble if we mindlessly personified some act to the point of projection like here.  Now what idiot would ascribe his own (presumably) human values to this animal?  I suppose the answer is a Greenie, but sometimes I do wonder how people can be so stupid.

#4 cohenite - you’re right they need to engage in an up front close personal counselling session with the bear.  And if not with Knut, then perhaps with these .

  12. So the Greens want the bear to be left to it’s natural devices, but complain when it actually behaves like a bear?

I see their point though. The bear is supposed to dive into the water, and flail about in a rather drowning-like manner, and complain that it’s ice is melting. That’s how proper bears behave.

Seriously, though, this kind of misplaced sentimentality and unrealistic expectation of the way things ought to be is part of what led to the rise of the Nazis in the first place. A few years ago an animal rights activist went to Pamplona to stop the running of the bulls.  Unfortunately for her, the bulls didn’t realize she was one of the “good guys” and one bulled gored her.  She was quoted as saying that she was upset about the goring since she was only trying to help the bulls.  She seriously expected the bulls to know what she was trying to do! Guess she didn’t speak Spanish with them?
