BALI ATTACK LATEST
An Australian teenager is among some 32 confirmed dead. At least 17 other Australians are injured, two of them gravely:
The Indonesian government has asked Australian Federal Police to help in the investigation, as they did with the 2002 bombings.
[Australian foreign minister Alexander] Downer said seriously injured Indonesians may also be evacuated to Australia for further medical treatment.
“We’ve offered medical assistance to the Indonesians, even with a view to evacuating by aircraft some of the more seriously injured to Australia if that proves to be necessary, and to provide additional medical resources if they need those medical resources,” he said.
Downer says there may be up to 4000 Australians in Bali at present, many of them on school holidays. There are other fatalities not yet confirmed involving a group of friends from Newcastle, according to Dr Adam Frost, interviewed by the ABC:
“They’re all in various states of injuries. Some didn’t survive.
“I’m waiting to go to the morgue to identify them.”
Images from the attack here and here. Sydney radio reporter Justin Hale mentions an earlier bomb discovery:
Hale said local people were already concerned by the reported discovery in a hotel of a bomb - with a letter attached to it - two weeks ago.
“At first people thought it may have just been a hoax or possibly even an extortion attempt. But with the letter in Arabic, that put a different slant on it,” he said.
Great timing from former Australian foreign minister Gareth Evans, who said last week that JI was “effectively smashed” and “no longer constituted a serious threat.” Singapore-based Rohan Gunaratna wasn’t as glib: “I think that Australia and the Indonesian police have done a very good job in fighting JI, but still JI key operatives are free, and they are planning and preparing attacks. I believe that JI will mount an attack in the coming months.”
Re: What our Imams have to say
They’re claiming it was Israelis, of course, who did this to turn people against Muslims.
This is the kind of enemy you can never be sure you’ve smashed.
Did you see LGF’s link to a post on Daily Kos calling for just this kind of thing?
We need terror. We need horror. We need the streets running awash in rivers of blood of these thugs and criminals and zealots. Activism didn’t prevent 60,000 deaths in Vietnam. All the activism of the Civil Rights era has gotten African Americans precisely nowhere. Segregation may not be the law of the land anymore, but it’s still the de facto state of America.
Well, he got his wish.
Didn’t take long:
THE latest bombings in Bali were not the work of Muslim militants, the head of an Islamic extremist organisation said today.
The spokesman for Majelis Mujahidin Indonesia, or Indonesia Council Of Holy Warriors, Fauzan Al Anshari, said the blasts were a plot by unnamed countries to implicate the head of MMI, radical cleric Abu Bakar Bashir.
Bashir is serving a 30-month jail term for involvement in the 2002 Bali bombings that killed 202 people, among 88 Australians.
“This is a grand design to again put Muslim people and Ustadz (honored cleric) Abu into a corner,” he told the Indo Pos newspaper.
The MMI’s Jakarta spokesman, Hasyim Abdullah, said the organisation’s followers, who regularly turn out to support accused extremists during terror trials, were sure Bashir would ultimately be blamed as the inspiration for the latest attacks.
“We’re instantly suspicious that this will be linked with Ustadz Abu,” he said.
Mossad! Notice how there were no Jews reported killed or injured? I rest my case!

Posted by Lucky Nutsacks on 2005 10 01 at 11:07 PM • permalinkGrr. I wish I had gotten a screen shot of my Netscape homepage earlier. The headline for this bit of news read something like “Blasts in Bali kill dozens; terrorism suspected”
I’m not normally one to get outraged over bad headlines, but isn’t that rather like saying “Two cars collide, traffic accident suspected”? What the fuck else could it be when someone sets off bombs among civilians?
Yeah, here we go. Yay for CNN:
Blasts at Bali Resort Kills 22; Terrorism Suspected
At least two bombs exploded almost simultaneously in Bali, killing at least 22 and wounding about 50 others. They said they were bombs in the sub-head. http://cnn.netscape.cnn.com/news/default.jsp That page might change and I’m not in a place to screen cap it at the moment.

Ok. Take that as a lesson, preview is everybody’s friend!
those wily jooooz were too busy preparing for rosh hashana & yom kippur - hell, my aunty was in my kitchen at 6 this morning cooking traditional food we all hate
Does Yom Kippur involve the freshly spilt blood of goyim, or is that only passover?
Poor Brian “rent-a-quote” Deegan just doesn’t realise just how out of touch with reality he really is. Does he actually think that his constant misguided ramblings on all things terrorism is doing the memory of his son justice? Probably. I’m convinced that the blinkered (or are they pacifiers?) Brian Deegan will not sleep until he can prosecute John Howard for the unfortunate death of his son Josh in the 2002 Bali bombings.
Is it any suprise that a man so out of touch with reality was once employed in the judicary? Not at all. In fact, it makes perfect sense. How many other of his type are currently sitting in judgement of others despite them not having a grip on reality? Plenty!!!

Exactly, school holiday time, great timing from those within the ‘religion of peace’. I wonder what our Imams, who have been so vocal of late, have to say about this incident. Silence no doubt.
