BAD REVIEW REVIEWED BADLY

The NYT’s Frank Rich reviews Hillary! The Prime-Time Special:

The untold story in the run-up to Super Tuesday was Hillary Clinton’s elaborate live prime-time special the night before the vote ...

This show was a dramatic encapsulation of how a once-invincible candidate ended up in a dead heat, crippled by poll-tested corporate packaging that markets her as a synthetic product leeched of most human qualities. What’s more, it offered a naked preview of how nastily the Clintons will fight, whatever the collateral damage to the Democratic Party, in the endgame to come.

Catty Frank sure upset the NYT’s pigeons:

• “The Democrats need to be together on this mission…and columns like yours, do the country a disservice.”

• “This article is an outrage to thinking democrats.”

• “Mr. Rich has lost all credibility for me regarding the democratic primary candidates. I no longer read beyond his first paragraph.”

• “Rich has joined the likes of Maureen Dowd and the Chris Matthews misogynst crew at MSNBC.”

• “This isn’t opinion, Mr. Rich, it’s pure invective. I am simply astounded at the length of the long knives that are now out for Senator Clinton.”

And this, from a furious Clinto-Paulian:

• “I used to think only the extreme right was capable of extreme hatred, but boy I was wrong ... a whole bunch of silent democrats would rather sit out than ever vote for Barack. Speaking for myself, if Hillary was not on the ballot, I would write in Ron Paul’s name.”

The division of America continues. Obamanian Joel Stein rouses his troops:

The best we Obamaphiles can do is to refrain from embarrassing ourselves. And I do believe that we can resist making more “We Are the World”-type videos. We can resist crying jags. We can resist, in every dinner argument and every e-mail, the word “inspiration.” Yes, we can.

They’ll be doing better than Deborah Cameron.

  1. Joe Hildebrand is the most talented writer at News (apart from you of course) - I’ve been reading his stuff for months - it’s undisciplined but that’s half the joy of it -it could go anywhere - from stories so personal they make you wince to complete nonsense. Just fantastic.  It’s the sort of stuff that talentless hacks like Evan Maloney can only dream of writing.

So the paper loses two subscribers. Big deal.

  4. Don’t know Deborah Cameron, but I’m glad I’m not her.  Funny stuff.

I’m praying for the big Democratic Boxing Match.  Sucker punches will be thrown, cuts opened, and much hitting below the belt.  I want Americans to see what they’d be voting for if they went Dhim.

Nah, anything that stirs up fraticidal warfare amongst the followers of the Party o’ Slavery is good for the country.

Senior campaign worker to Junior campaign worker, as latter prepares to head to rally:

    Senior: Ok, empty your pockets.

    Junior: What?

Senior: I said, “Empty your pockets”.

Junior: Gee whiz, it’s like you don’t trust me. Oh, alright!

Junior unburdens himself of a whoopie cushion, two squirt guns, an airhorn, and a box of Monica Lewinsky Oval Office Coronas.

    Junior: Satisfied?

Senior: Yeah, you can go. (Junior toddles off). Hold it! (Reaches down and rips off the rubber brontosaurus ankles). Ok, now you can go.

If the national campaign shows the same hippy-infested commercials they showed during the Maine caucus, the Republicans will cruise.

  10. Further, I’d like to congratulate Mr. Rich for pulling his head  partway out of his ass about the Clinton Machine.

Of course, it took him, what?, 16 years to do so.  But he just might be on the road to recovery.

Although I shan’t hold my breath in the meantime.

  25. Of course, while we’re enjoying the Clinton-Obama dance of death, we might want to spare a thought for what a McCain presidency is going to look like with respect to, say, controlling the borders. Bush has, of course, finally decided to tighten up the southern border - unfortunately, it’s Mexico’s southern border.

  26. 16 - I refuse to create an account to comment on that worthless piece.

Over 1,200 Lebanese civilians were murdered, assisted by Israel’s use of cluster bombs. Israeli civilians were also killed.

I read this in the first paragraph and stopped.  No need to go further.  Apparently only Lebanese civilians can be murdered, and Israeli ones are “killed”, like some unemotive statistic.

Can he be more biased?  I didn’t bother to find out.

  40. Old reference warning. All this Obamania reminds me of the Coke “I’d like to teach the world to sing” ads. Maybe the Obama campaign can do one of those as their next ad to get more of the “youth vote.” Although one thing I will say for Obama is that unlike Hillary, he seems to have a moral compass. The needle may point SE, but at least he has one.
