British Muslims fear arrest backlash

  1. 4.30pm news on 9: Leading story is about the UK plot, with those arrested being called “muslims”. They range in age from 17-35 and are all british-born.

I’m shocked - shocked! - I tell you. I would never have expected it.
    /sarc.

It is about time this Tiny Minority of Extremists had their stranglehold on our lives broken.

I am sick of the costs we have to pay in insecurity, apprehension and political correctness.

It is not on that we should have to deal with this crap day in and day out.

I wish the bloody “powers-that-be” would get off their arses and get to work.

  2. News of a thwarted plot to down trans-Atlantic airliners sent a shiver of anxiety through Britain’s Muslim community Thursday.

  3. I am so thankful for writers like Steyn and Daniel Pipes, who keep speaking the truth in the face of the perfect absurdity of the various government and Muslim mouthpieces.  I am reminded these days of the same scene replayed over and over by Clinton.  Remember after every new assault against the U.S., Clinton walked to the podium and condemned the latest batch of “cowards” and promised to bring them all to justice?  Over and over, the exact same words.  In the same way, these days we can count on the ubiquity of “no terrorism here, move along, Muslims are worried about the backlash, and Muslims resent being made to feel guilty for the acts of those who didn’t really do anyhing anyway.”  Hell, the story writes itself.  Change the names and the latest country under attack.

The funniest thing I read was a comment on one of the lefty blogs I read this afternoon.  All of this is just too much of a coincidence, coming just a day after Lamont scared the bejesus out of Rove and gang.  Because of the outcome of a Democratic primary in the state of Connecticut, countries in Europe, as well as Britain, Canada, and the U. S. got together and decided to pull the wool over the eyes of the American electorate.  Just the way Bush and Co. always does.  It made me think of that scene in “Independence Day” when all the nuts were dancing on the roof of a building, waving signs for the aliens to come and take them.  Do you think that the truth hit them the split second before they were vaporized?

Of course, the various governments and the Muslim community are guaranteeing the backlash they so fear with every word and deed in response to murderers.  They are right to fear it.

  5. Muslim? How do we know they were Muslim?

    From the Times Online :

The majority are understood to be young British Asian men of Pakistani descent, many holding dual nationality. But residents in areas where the arrests took place identified at least one man who they said was a white British convert to Islam.
    ...
These are the names of 19 suspects reportedly being held by the police after the foiled plot and whose assets the Treasury has sought to have frozen.

Logically you’d expect a few insults and the odd rock to be hurled in retaliation, but no. Instead, as we speak, I’ll bet thousands of luvvies are planning group hugs and Ramadan festivities.

  34. The ABC on PM took a strange tack in reciting the list of occupations of the arrested ones, just to show how varied they are. Gosh, they even had varied ages.
Then, just to add another layer of obfuscation they had Robert Pape on to explain it all. He is the guy from Chicago Uni who obligingly says that it would be all over if the USA and Britain just pissed off out of the Arabian Peninsula. Right. Just like Hezbollah will recognise Israel when they get She-baa Farms baa-ck!
Red Kerry ran the Pape guy last year here. He said, among other things:
“For most suicide terrorists, they don’t have evidence as the London bombers don’t, that they hate Western values or that they hate being immersed in Western society. What we have evidence for time and again across the spectrum is that they are deeply angered by military policies, especially foreign combat troops on territory that they prize and that they believe they have no other means to change those policies.”
It’s odd then that the Saudis funded the first Gulf War. They certainly believed they had no other means to change Saddam’s policy of taking over all the oil he could. Does anyone remember the left telling Saddam to stop, that it was (shamefully) all about oil then?

I realy fear for the future, if this plan had succeeded it would have been a huge victory because they would have killed thousands of westerners, when the plan is thwarted they turn it to their political advantage and also spread fear, There is no downside for them and no upside for us.

They are the stronger side in this war,not afraid to kill or die to get what they want, their persistance and violence will prevail over our pacifistic tolerance, we havent even got the death penalty for murder and they hang 16 year old girls in the street.

  65. In my opinion all this anti-muslim carry on is off target.

The real issue is the philosophy of Islam itself and the naive leftist ideologies of unconsidered multiculturalism and cultural relitavism.

It appears to me that Islam is not ready to engage intellectually with the modern world and needs a few more hundred years of incubation in the middle east followed by some kind of rennaisance.

I suspect that a lot of the anti-muslim talk on this page reflects more a reaction against the PC gagging of sensible intellectual criticism of Islamic beliefs than a genuine hatred of the people who by reason of fate have been born into Islamic belief.

If they are not ready to participate in (or allow us to participate in our freedoms) then   why should they be allowed to participate in the benefits of our societies?

Why do we value the citizenship of our countries and the social/political/scientific achievements of our ancestors so lowly that we are prepared to allow such unconsidered mass migration to occur?

  66. Willow, you’re more than half-right. But:

Islam… needs a few more hundred years of incubation in the middle east followed by some kind of rennaisance

In the meantime, what then? Do we have to put up with a few hundred years of them trying to blow us up? A renaissance in three hundred years is too far away. We have to address today’s problems today. And besides, they’re not just in the Middle East any more. 10% of Europe is Muslim, projected to be 30% by the year 2050. The incubation area is growing all the time. We’ve been trying to ignore them already. It didn’t work.

I suspect that a lot of the anti-muslim talk on this page reflects more a reaction against the PC gagging of sensible intellectual criticism of Islamic beliefs than a genuine hatred of the people who by reason of fate have been born into Islamic belief.

I cant speak for any of the others (cause they get mad and yell at me if I try) but I can tell you point blank, with zero hesitation that at least with me, you are dead wrong.

When it comes to hostilities its all about the simple and direct.
Those that want to harm me and/or mine? = Enemy.
Those support that enemy, stand beside that enemy, speak up for that enemy or in any other way assist, encourage, support that enemy? = Enemy.

Object of war? = Destroy the Enemy by what ever means most direct and efficient. And keep on destroying them until they cease to exist, accomplish what ever it is that is deemed necessary for them to get off the Enemy list, or they can be looked in the eyes and it be verified that their spines are well and truly snapped and there’s no fight left in their entire remaining population.

Anything else fails the most basic of Darwinian tests.

I think the tactic works this way. By them mentioning a fear of a backlash, no matter how well earned, they guarantee that the powers that be will do what ever it takes to guard them against any and all lashes to back or any other part.

So, by nearly invoking the term backlash, they ensure that no such lashing can occur.

And yeah, sadly enough, we are all that stupid.

When Isreal kills Lebanese civilians (or pretend civilians), Hez also wins. All these Islamic orgs with their recent whining press releases are green-helmeting the situation for maximum effect: get the western media sympathetic to their side and use them to up the grievance levels, thus ensuring more and continued participation in the Islamic project.

The unconscienably broad strata! Probably the intent of the news orgs who do that is to show that there is no profiling possible with terrorists- they can be anyone.

An alternate interpretation- and if the news media notice it they’ll probably stop reporting that angle- is that you can’t trust any Muslim anywhwere, no matter his socioeconomic position. However I’m quite sure that that’s not what they mean to convey.

Looks like a meeting of the Central Committee of the Washington Imbecilariat over in Lafayette Park today. The ANSWER crowd has coagulated for a march, I suppose. Smallish crowd, but appears larger because of some of the individual mass. Ever checked out the average ANSWER chick? Large economy size. One young rattle-head had crammed what looked to be a size 16 carcass into a size 10 Che t-shirt. Old Che-burger’s face was stretched so taut across her saggy udders it looked like a pancake with dog hair on it. Some of the guys revealed a lot of heft, too. 106. Perhaps this is some of the “backlash” they’re worried about: Italy Arrests 40 In Security Crackdown

Police said Friday they had arrested 40 people in cities across Italy in raids on Muslim gathering places in a security crackdown launched after Britain thwarted an alleged terror plot.

    snip

The arrests in Rome, Milan, Venice, Florence, Naples and other cities on Thursday and Friday “as part of an extraordinary operation that followed the British anti-terrorist operation,” the ministry said in a statement.

    snip

Exactly a year earlier, a similar security sweep in Italy at money transfer centers, Muslim butcher shops and similar places resulted in 141 arrests. Those raids came a few weeks after the London subway attacks.

Italy’s Islamic Anti-Defamation League criticized the latest raids.

“More than 4,000 people were stopped and humiliated to allow police to arrest 12 chicken thieves and 28 clandestine” migrants, the league’s spokeswoman Dacia Valent was quoted as saying by the Apcom news agency.

    2. Why does the West call it [bombing planes] terror and not address this other terror?
Unasked Qu: So you implicitly want British Moslems to fight for Hezbollah with their own anti-West terror? Or you at least ‘understand’ them doing so?
    3. I talk to UK Moslems lads and say that they should try to influence the UK government through democratic means to change its polices, but I can’t get through becaue of the UK government.

My eyeballs popped out when I saw the first official statements including a series of threats from “muslim community leaders” about what would happen if there was a backlash.

    Sick.

We are constantly being told it is only a “Tiny Minority of Extremist” muslims. Unfortunately the “Tiny Minority of Extremists” appear to be supported and applauded, according to the polls, by a Large Majority of “moderate” Muslims.

If the LMMM really do fear a backlash (from whom?) then they should kick the butts of the TMEM, if they were sincere.

Until then, bring on the backlash.

Why do you have a providence or territory named Nunavut and how exactly did the name come about?

I’m game and totally for something like that. And soon, we may need to do just exactly that.

This oozing of what we have, to a cult, ain’t gonna cut it. To paraphrase Amadamnidijt…‘We don’t give a damn about what you think’...Islamists.

  131. El Cid, from memory, I think Nunavut is what used to be called the Northwest Territories until a few years ago.  In a fit of “we’re sorry about that whole Columbus thing” (hey, we do it here in the States all the time), Canada allowed it to be set up as a semi-independent indigenously governed entity with no doubt a massive inflow of tax dollars from the other provinces to subsidize the hunter gatherer lifestyle.  (It has to be subsidized cuz otherwise you die at about 35, which isn’t quite what the atavists had in mind.)

  132. #120. Waiting for a political party? Wasn’t that what the British National Party was about? The UK government presently seems to be using any means they can find to put the BNP leadership in jail. Even a self-proclaimed leftie journalist raises some concerns  about the charges brought against BNP leader Griffin.

Jailing inconvenient political mavericks on trumped up charges? Never in Australia, surely.

    Makes sense. Thanks.

This…with no doubt a massive inflow of tax dollars   is the universal language, of the world…:).

  134. Van o’Comm/El Cid

The area was called the Northwest Territories and was governed from Ottawa. The land area was split in into the Northwest Territories and Nunivut. The latter is probably the Inuit term for “Our Land” or such.
The negotiations were rather confused as the Feds made numerous offers to the locals and they kept responding, “We want nunivit.”

    Cheers

  135. I think Nunavut was a result of well-meaning Canadian government officials getting confused by the Indians’ accents:

“We’ll give you folks a semi-independent place of your own that’ll cost us nothing but let us feel really good about ourselves. How about some frigid, worthless tundra in the Arctic Circle?”

“Ugh. We’ll have none of it.”

    “Nunavut it is! Enjoy!”

  142. Speaking of cars(I did get to the caddy!) and franchises.

I want to get the Kuber liscense/transfer/registration/kickback franchise.  Once that butch-dang!-once that crim-dang! once El Commandante assumes room temperature(quickness be upon it) that island is going to sink with the deluge of car collectors storming that place.

Come to think of it, I’d buy stock in the Paco Enterprises’ Rope and Yardarm Subsidiary, if it ever goes publlic.  The term “backlash” may be too gentle by half for the amount of blowback that is going to take place.

  144. #120, fat chance. As #133 points out, look what the Britgov did to the BNP—with the collusion of the courts.
We don’t need another political party, there’s enough of the scumbags already. What we need is enough irate and ballsy citizens with hemp ropes. And lamp posts.

  148. Hold on a minute…Omert may be a dill, but this is the very first time an Israeli Chief of Defense has been an Air Marshall.

I have a colleague at work—and ex-IDF Tank Commander—who has pretty much laid out the “shoulda dones”.

First mistake was Halutz. I could lay out the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th—but I wouldn’t want to bore youse all…

  149. I hope it ain’t over.  I hope it isn’t going to be another surrender.  I’m so sick of surrendering and having to fight again.  It is criminal.  We deserve to have that sick Iranian bastard laughing at us if we can’t shove the grapefruit in his face.

The iced vodka sounded good so if this doesn’t sound right blame it on Cid.  (I’ll be a lefty for the night and shift the responsibility.  Gee, that was easy.)

    See Carter, Jimmy.

Actually, I don’t think it’s fear. It’s admiration tinged with envy. Leftist policies can only be implemented by force (for our own good, of course), so every lefty dreams of being a strongman.
