BABY BOOMER

Via Menorah Blog, news of a pregnant 22-year-old Palestinian explodey instructress:

It’s hard to believe that this young, quiet religious woman is a seasoned commando fighter, an expert in making suicide bomb belts and explosive devices, and the first woman who has turned into “an engineer” in the service of terror.

Maybe she just wants to protect her unborn from the foul piggy bank menace.

UPDATE. Associated Press reports:

A 20-year-old Palestinian blacksmith blew himself up at a falafel stand in an open-air market Wednesday, killing five Israelis and wounding more than 30 in the deadliest attack in the country in more than three months.

To accompany this story, as Mali Crveni Patuljci (“Little Red Dwarfs”) points out, US ABC News ran one photograph—of the bomber’s grieving sister.

  1. Isn’t it wonderful that Islamic groups are finally granting women equality, and in their major economic enterprise, too.

  2. I always wonder about the people who amass “expert[ise] in making suicide bomb belts and explosive devices” but never get any experience in using them.

Don’t they believe in their own cause?

I expect nothing less. All their local stringers are Palestinian Arabs. They are so intent on “showing the other side” that all we get is “the other side”.

    WHY DO THEY HATE FALAFEL?

  7. *I* like falafal. A bit of extra hot sauce makes it even better.

The best around here is made in a little hole-in-wall place called Vivi’s (“Look for the flipped arches!”) just down the road from De Anza College in Cupertino, CA.

Used to be five minutes from work, until my office got moved 20 miles north…

  8. I wonder if the blacksmith who decided to, er, expand his horizons was a customer of the bomb mom?

  10. Given what the Iranian President said the other day, that Israel should be wiped off the map, I’d say a pre-emptive attack by Israel was perfectly justified!
Maybe in the form of a targeted killing???
    Go for it Israel!

  11. There have been quite a few Palestinian women who have been arrested as suspected would-be suicide bombers. It has been suggested that Palestinian women who have lost their virginity or who perhaps have become pregnant out of wedlock “volunteer” because once their sexual indiscretion revealed, their fathers, brothers, uncles, etc. would murder them anyway so as not to bring ‘dishonour’ on the family.
    Man, what a fucked-up society!

Well, he may have just blown himself up because he was a 20 year old Palestinian blacksmith!

  13. Iran is busy proving that, given their own way for 25 years & plenty of oil revenue, they still cannot build a society which is in any way attractive, or even one which keeps to itself and promises no harm to others.
Iran remains, particularly under the present management, a clear danger to others. Their president has spoken, and no amount of bullshit apologist spin from the BBC (and others) can camouflage that.

  15. blogstrop, it’s also interesting that the ABC have buried the story about Blair’s extremely strong reaction to the Iranian president’s remarks off of their main page.

They’ve also toned the whole thing down by only including a few direct quotes:

    Iranian President’s speech angers Blair

  17. The fact that Saddam was the first target after Afghanistan is partly a measure of how much he annoyed everyone, partly the unknowns (thanks Rummy) and partly the geography.
I would have put Iran further up the pecking order. Now that any chance of liberalisation via political means has evaporated and the young & restless appear to have been grounded, it may go to the head of the list. Their president has called everyone in the west to attention.
