Western Australia’s Ghali Hassan has his say on Saddam’s trial:
Saddam trial is a theatre. It is a Hollywood show to divert attention from the destruction of Iraq and the massive war crimes committed against the Iraqi people. Like the invasion, the “tribunal” is illegal and has no legitimacy in occupied Iraq. There is overwhelming prima facie evidence to convict George W. Bush and Tony Blair of crimes against humanity than to convict Saddam Hussein. Under the U.N Convention, Bush and Blair are guilty of crimes against humanity, torture, and guilty of wanton destruction of the Iraqi state.
The reality is; the U.S. and its allies are not interested in a trial per se; they are interested in the humiliation of all Arabs.
And so on, including condemnation of “Zionism and imperialism”, praise for Saddam’s “best education system and the best health care services in the Middle East”, and declarations of Saddam’s innocence (with this comical qualifier: “even if Saddam committed crimes, the crimes were committed with the full complicity and support of Western leaders, and Western media”). You’ll find Hassan at all the usual progressive online fever pods, despite his screaming anti-Semitism and frantic conspiracy theories:
Instead of saying; it is too early to say who is responsible for the 7/7 London bombing, Tony Blair immediately accused Muslims and Islam of the crimes. No evidence, no names and no documentation were provided to support his accusations.
Blair did nothing of the sort. He immediately blamed those who would impose extremism on the world, and later told Parliament:
People know full well that the overwhelming majority of Muslims stand four square with every other community in Britain. We were proud of your contribution to Britain before last Thursday. We remain proud of it today. Fanaticism is not a state of religion but a state of mind. We will work with you to make the moderate and true voice of Islam heard as it should be.
Speaking of “no evidence, no names and no documentation being provided to support his accusations”, check Hassan’s theory about the London attacks:
The 7/7 London bombing was next to impossible to conduct in the middle of high security without the intelligence and coordination of important people in Britain. Like the 9/11 attacks, the 7/7 London bombing remains a mystery ...

Ah yes, and Mussolini made the trains run on time. That used to be a joke, but moonbat lunatics keep using it to justify every bloody-handed tyrant around the world, from Saddam to Castro. Their fanciful wonders aren’t even true, any more than the tale of Musso’s great achivement was.
And I have to wonder how Saddam’s services compared with Israel’s. You know, where the hospitals treat Arabs with skill the Arab patients can’t get among their own people, then the people the Israelis treated try to suicide bomb the hospital, like that woman treated for burns some time ago. I guess Israel isn’t in the Middle East, is it? Or maybe, if Jews do it it doesn’t count.
Saddam is trying on the same defense as King Charles I, who had better cause to use it. The court has no authority to try him and nobody had authority to arrest him. It didn’t work in 1649, and it won’t work now. Saddam’s trial sends the salutary message to all the tyrants that being El Presidente does not mean you are above the law. There were laws against murder in Iraq while Saddam was president and his being president does not mean he could murder with impunity. That Arab “intellectuals” habitually justify such vicious behavior by Arab tyrants, in hopes, one suspects, of picking up some crumbs from the table of patronage, is a disgraceful trahison des clercs.
It also looks like this lying pipsqueak is thumping his various bigotries, against America, against Jews, against Britain. He raves of imaginary crimes while overlooking or dismissing real ones by an Arab tyrant, perpetrated mostly against Arabs. How Arab intellectuals must hate and despise their own people.

Never ask an academic for an opinion about anything. Just walk away slowly then turn and run.

Serious students and their parents are now searching for newly developed “non-accredited” teaching facilities with high quality professors to obtain education free of lunatic types such as Ward Churchill and the example presented here. There are now efforts in the United States to develop such institutions which intend to use the internet to partially instruct. Of course, established Academia is fighting this trend ferociously. No matter. The outrages of Academia will lead it into the same downward spiral now followed by the MSM in its competition with the bloggers.

we’ve seen it in news reporting in a huge way all over the west. Even the prestigious “Le Monde’ has recently been found quilty of antisemetism by a french court. And we see it almost every day at the BBC , the New york times and here in australia at the ABC and SBS.
We’ve seen how legal profession activist promote their anti western Agendas in Australia whenever the subject of gitmo Australian is raised or that of protection measures for the Australian public.
We’ve seen it in the Arts in Melbourne where hideous artworks glorifying suicide bombing of innocent women and children are promoted by activist bureaucratic elements.
We’ve seen it amongst hollywood actors , using their renown to promote anti government hatred.

He probably uses the proof techniques described in the article “On the Nature of Mathematical Proofs” from the anthology A Stress Analysis of a Strapless Evening Gown. These include proof by blatant assertion, but my favorite was proof by assumption. Virtually every school in Iraq is being rebuilt. Some were little more than mud shacks. And some teachers are being murdered by Mr. Hassan’s philosophical comrades. I wonder how he reconciles these facts with his rhetoric?

Nic White - if he were a tutor he wouldn’t be described as “in the Science and Maths department”; they’d try to fluff his position up by saying he’s a “teacher” or “researcher”. If he’s a student and they say he’s “in” the department, it’s technically true, however it’s written in a way that would make most jump to the conclusion that he’s a faculty member. Besides - I actually go to Curtin, and all my tutors can be accessed via the staff register. Even low level clerical staff are on there.
