ALL THE NEWS THAT’S FIT TO DELETE

Another no-appearance appearance in the Sydney Morning Herald:

The carjacker is described as being in his mid-20s, around 180cm tall with a muscular build.

He has short, dark hair, is clean shaven and was last seen wearing baggy black jeans.

As usual, more information is available via NSW police:

The offender is believed to be aged in his mid twenties, and described as being of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean in appearance, around 180-185 cm tall and of a with a muscular build. He has dark short hair and is clean shaven and was last seen wearing black baggy jeans.

Via readers Hemingway, JM, F. Abate, Terry M., and Geoffrey C., who adds: “As a man who is around 180cm tall, I find it grossly sexist and heightist to link me to a crime I did not commit.”

  2. What is it about people with no facial features that makes them so prone to violence?

  4. Notice the poor bugger who got bashed to death by youths of no appearance in Griffith last week? All you’ll find is the odd reference to aboriginal case workers when describing the culprits… but never once has the SMH explicitly mentioned the race of the attackers. As if its not important at ALL.

  5. Also from SMH, unidentified Thais are bombing political targets, presumably like the tourist in the accompanying photo.  Blame is being apportioned to politicians who lost power after the recent military coup.  If it’s not the Presbyterians, it’s the politicians…

  6. #4 how many people suspected camel jockeys- i know i did. especially after hearing the griffith mayor worrying about tensions between unidentified races down there.

it just goes to show that the smh’s bowdlerised reporting is counterproductive.

It won’t spare the presbyterian community from anger at the crimes they do commit- just means they will be suspected for all crimes reported with ethnicity excised.

  7. On the LA news the other night they talked about a race riot in the jails (happening on an ever more frequent basis since they racially mixed the inmates) without mentioning what race the attackers of the black inmates were!

  10. Without a hint of irony Paul Sheenan in today’s SMH complains about a dearth of personal descriptive information in crime reporting, A whitewash of criminal realities...

Go to the news section of the NSW Police website and you will find an informational G-string: it provides the bare minimum.

If the cops provide the bare minimum of information then the Herald provides zilch.

  11. Flash!

Three men of no appearance have been arrested trying to sneak into the port of Miami in a truck, without identification.  If this news fits, there may be more on this story later.

  12. Y’know, we could easily contribute to buy some space in the Herald and just list all these pathetic ommissions.

Sign it ‘from the friendly folks at Timblair.net’ or some such.

I know the thought of supporting the Herald financially is anathema. But hell, IMO it would be worth it.
