For some reason, possibly due to shame, today’s Melbourne Age front page doesn’t seem to be available.
UPDATE. Stupid poll in The Age asks: “Given an Australian airman has died and free elections have been held, is it time for Australia to pull out of Iraq?�
Whoever came up with that question is presumably unaware that Flight Lieutenant Paul Pardoel was serving with Britain’s Royal Air Force. His death is unrelated to Australian involvement.
(The most popular answer, by the way, is: “Yes - if we stay we may get bogged down in a civil war.�)
Its front page might be unavailable but its current lead story encapsulates all the preoccupations of Idiot Left Inc.
So someone turned down the aircon in Guantanamo. Big deal.
Twenty-four hours. I predicted that we’d see this “they voted, let’s go home” meme after the election but they sure didn’t waste any time.
Sadly, I can’t act too superior to the Aussies this time (sorry, Darlene), because I heard from my very own memebot brother this afternoon…

Federal Opposition Leader Kim Beazley says that once instated, Iraq’s elected government should try to resolve its problems by negotiating with insurgents.
Mr Beazley says the time has come to let the Iraqis settle their own problems and the US military should not become involved in a civil war in Iraq.
