AFGHANS MURDERED

Nineteen dead, Cheney safe after suicide attack:

A suicide bomber killed 19 people and wounded 11 outside the main U.S. military base in Afghanistan on Tuesday during a visit by Vice President Dick Cheney, though the vice president was apparently not in danger, U.S. and Afghan officials said.

  1. Hang on - this doesn’t make sense. According to a credible source:

There is, of course, only one way that Cheney could ever become President between now and the next election short of an impeachment of Bush. And it’s not as though the neoconservatives haven’t pondered the idea of a ‘President Cheney’ themselves.

Have the neoconservatives changed their mind about killing off GWB and decided Cheney has to go? Or is someone planning to replace the VP and then take over the Presidency? Did I miss a neocon meeting?

Seriously, though, events like these are exactly why Pakistan is such a worry. It was described once as a state too big to fail and too messy to work and I reckon that is about spot on. What a shame circumstances require these guys to be key allies in the region.

This seems somewhat of an odd thing to say, considering Iran has a long history of antagonism or outright combat with the Taliban (who we can presume are behind this attack.)

Unless, you know, you were just saying lets blow up Iran -anyway-. But hey, who needs details when you have a glass bowl, right?

  10. India and Pakistan were born on the same day from a common history. One has, through all sorts of turmoil including assassinations, remained a democracy and is now one of the world’s new boom economies. The other has only flirted with democracy, spent years under the rule of military dictators and it has the same goat-driven economy it had in 1947. One is essentially Hindu, the other Muslim. Pick which one.

  17. I hear you can blow him up and all the pieces kind of shlorp across the floor and reform stronger than ever. Others, however, insist he has to find a new, more vital body and consume its soul so that he can possess it.

I am currently completely convinced by the hypothesis that Dick Cheney is just a hologram. I took a photo of him on the TV and when I enlarged it, it was definitely pixelated and showed signs of being two-dimensional. The REAL Dick Cheney flew into the side of one or both of the Twin Towers so that George bush would have an excuse to carry his parasitic Plastic Turkey Suited alien overlords into a film set that looked like Iraq but was really in Sydney.

  18. Those Afghani terrorists better hot-foot it to Iraq, because even the (drumroll…) Australian Socialist Left is coming after them (*Terms and Conditions Apply). See, its those Afghani Al Qaeda who are bad, not the Iraqi Al Qaeda.
Confused? ALP Deputy Sock-Puppet Julia Gillard proves she is capable of whining and dribbling at the same time, when answering this question (from fellow-leftoid Virginia Trioli)

Kevin Rudd arguing you have got to fight Al Qaeda in Afghanistan but somehow you don’t have to fight Al Qaeda in Iraq either. That’s a contradiction, surely?

Not at all according to Julia. They are entirely different. Better yet, whilst being all gung-ho (*Terms and Conditions Apply) re terrorism in Afghanistan and then dribbling on about the need for an exit strategy for Iraq, she and Rudd are conspicuously quiet on the (presumably equally important) need for an exit strategy for Afghanistan.
Presumably their Afghanistan exit strategy will entail working out if there are votes in it, and if so, raising the white flag and leaving someone else to sort it out. Not just yet though -maybe after the election..Can’t wait to hear someone ask them to explain that one.

On a pseudo-scientific note, if you go to the video you will note she also has mesmerising, ludicrously large ear lobes, which were presumably caught in the same mangle as her syntax. This alone should mean she is barred from high office…

And, glassing Iran would go along way to settling down things in eastern Iraq. Glass Syria to calm down western Iraq.

Now, I know I saw that on an episode of the X-Files. Anyone who participated in Ace of Spades’ “things previously not known about Dick Cheney” thread knows The Dick is indestructible.

Perino said President Bush got an update Tuesday morning about the attack, but had not yet spoken to Cheney about it. Bush was not awakened to be told about the attack, she said.

My, but aren’t we getting blase about it all.

“Of course, we’re glad that he’s OK,” Perino said of Cheney.

    Of course. LOL

“We understand now that the U.S. government realizes that in order to stop terrorism in Afghanistan and to stop terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, there must be a clear fight against terrorism in Pakistan,” said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

Well, duh. That one could get real ugly.
