ACCURATE STATEMENTS
• “No one likes a leapy bassist.”
• “This whole post is beyond awesome!”
• “Cindy’s speech went on for quite some time.”
• “I’m probably lying.”
• “He couldn’t move. He broke his leg. He was crying.”
• “No one today is more naturally absurd than a global warming alarmist.”
UPDATE. And two less-than-accurate statements:
Earth Hour is an awareness campaign about climate change, which started in Australia last year. 2.2 milion businesses switched off all their lights and appliances for an hour to reduce their power use.
Try 2,100 businesses (tops). Previously, the Miami Herald claimed:
Earth Hour started when Sydney, Australia, with a population of 2.2 million ...
It’s closer to four million; the Herald might be thinking of Havana. Earth Hour reporters should attempt an Accuracy Hour. You know, as a symbolic gesture.
UPDATE II. “We are now a world leader in the market of exporting meaningless gestures.” Don’t laugh; they’re worth almost as much as carbon credits.
Sign from Cindy’s speech, 5 YEARS TO MANY
This is the result of spending time at the “peace” protest, instead of in classroom learning english.

Great photo gallery by zombietime.
It gives me hope that our ideological enemies are stupid; unfortunately their allies run the universities. This is where the battle must be fought.

Replacing noblesse oblige and The White Man’s Burden. Cheaper, too!
Posted by Harry Bergeron on 2008 03 21 at 05:23 PM • permalinkRe. “I’m probably lying”, I had an allergy shot at a local walk-in clinic just on Wednesday and overheard the nurse in a 5 minute argument over the phone with someone looking for a narcotics refill who apparently claimed he was “being denied treatment”.
After waiting the hour to ensure there was no adverse reaction and showing the nurse the reaction on my arm, I joked that I would still be in the plaza a bit longer having lunch so I could return if an adverse reaction started but that I’d be back anyway to get a Vicodin prescription. It took her a bit to cotton on, but she then had a laugh about it. (Lucky I didn’t have Tim’s nurse--she’d probably have kneed me.)

More detail and some humour here.

Just got fined $350K for misuse of campaign funds (she spent over a million dollars of campaign financing on her personal purchases and then claimed she used the wrong ATM card). Also was charged for reckless driving and DUI of drugs (she claimed they were leukemia meds). She almost killed 3 families by driving on the wrong side of the road in her State car (Chevy Suburban). This is multiple times she has done this. She is still running again for state senate this year even after all this and is favored to win. California dems are such wonderful and fantastic people.
#13 stackaja1945: Brilliant.
Driving in Sydney is a cut-throat business, which is how you know you’re in a real city. A friend returned to Sydney after two years in Armidale and found he’d lost the nerve to cope...
Having lived in Perth since 1989, Sydney traffic a hair-raising adventure. In Sydney taxis it’s best to assume the crash position the instant you close the door and wait till the driver has demanded his fare three times (indicating that he believes you’ve arrived at where you actually wanted to go) before resuming the upright position.

It just stopped snowing in Chicago.
