ABU VS ARCH
A challenge from the Islamic Information & Services Network of Australasia:
A khutbah (sermon) by Abu Hamza was delivered in Melbourne addressing the ignorance of Arch Bishop, George Pell. And we challenge George Pell to a debate or dialogue concerning the issue- “Where does terrorism reside: Islam or Christianity?"
Well, if we’re only allowed to choose one …
UPDATE. Salim Mansur:
Let us, Muslims, be brutally honest.
We have inherited a culture of denial, of too often refusing to acknowledge our own responsibility for the widespread malaise that has left most of the Arab-Muslim countries in economic, political, and social despair ...
Many of our intellectuals in public life and our religious leaders in mosques remain adept in double-speak, saying contrary things in English or French and then in Arabic or Farsi or Urdu.
We have made hypocrisy an art, and have spun for ourselves a web of lies that blinds us to the real world around us. We seethe with grievances and resentment against the West, even as we have prospered in the freedom and security of Western democracies.
There’s much more.
thanks, SCD. I thought it was just a lack of creativity on my part.

This would be like arguing whether the moon landings were fake… everyone knows the Earth is flat!

Posted by The_Real_JeffS on 2006 07 20 at 01:08 AM • permalinkAccording to google fight it’s a points decision the Islam.
Posted by Infidel Tiger on 2006 07 20 at 01:08 AM • permalinkAnd he knows a lot more about Islam than you know about Christianity.
So why not catch up on a little reading, Abu, before you call people ignorant?
O/T a little & you may already be aware of this khutbah that will be taking place in Hyde Park (Sydney) on 22/7. That’s right folks, the ‘Ozzie’ Mozzies (& Christians) will be out in force marching for Lebanon around midday. Should be a blast! Guess we’ll see the usual suspects peddling the same predictable shit. Wonder if we’ll see the obligatory flag burning.
Posted by ozconservative on 2006 07 20 at 02:17 AM • permalinkLet’s see, there has been 932 Islamic terror attacks in the last 5 months.
I see in the mp3 on that islamic site, the preacher when into a quite detailed rant about the Bible, clearly he has not read the Islamic Hadith’s, I wonder how far I would get if i ranted against the qu’ran in the same way?. This man is a fine example of muslim untermensch.
#15 I wonder how far I would get if i ranted against the qu’ran in the same way?
Well in Victoria you can be arrested for religious vilification if you simply happen to be a Christian minister reading the Koran aloud…

Posted by The Thin Man Returns on 2006 07 20 at 02:24 AM • permalinkInteresting selection, but why a deabte now when it was closed off before? Doesn’t it raise the case of the Christian church Catch the Fire that was taken to court for contravening vilification laws for simply referencing the QuranCatch the Fire
Posted by WeekByWeek on 2006 07 20 at 03:03 AM • permalinkNup, I couldn’t find where terrorism resides, not in New South Wales anyway.
I have just listened to an interview on ABC radio of the female ex deputy PM of Iran. Apparently she is now involved in some peace type thing. It was like listening to evil personified. I’d rather hear a debate between her and George Pell than Abu Hamza. The interview did have its lighthearted moments with the ABC interviewer being dumbfounded by the display of evil brought out by his attempts to do a penetrating interview. You could almost hear him pining for a nice interview with an Israeli spokesperson where he could get stuck in, talk over the replies and generally get his own views on air, rather than that of the person being interviewed.
HogesI can’t wait.
Cardinal Pell will beat Abu like a rented donkey.
Terrorist.Posted by arrowhead ripper on 2006 07 20 at 06:04 AM • permalink#22, sure, I just stick to posts about wiping out palestinians and assorted arabs like everybody else.
You’re either a troll trying to be cute, or a bona-fide fascist and racist.
Either way...Andrea, get out that banning stick.
Posted by Quentin George on 2006 07 20 at 07:14 AM • permalinkPeople are getting sick of you, daza. So far the popular vote seems to be in favor of banning. I wouldn’t mind, since you haven’t said anything interesting on any thread so far.
Posted by Andrea Harris, Administrator on 2006 07 20 at 07:17 AM • permalinkPell should avoid this invite like the plague. To accept would be to give Hamza, the little shit, an aura of credibility he doesn’t deserve.
Posted by AlburyShifton on 2006 07 20 at 07:43 AM • permalinkO/T Australian “charge d’affaires” in Lebanon hinted strongly tonight to Red Kerry that some would be evacuees who had registered to leave-refused to leave at short notice because they were not permitted to take “large amounts of luggage”.
Limiting luggage on a warship is entirely understandable I would have thought.
Many thanks British and Greek Navies for your assistance."Fatwa for Salim Mansur; I have a fatwa here for Salim Mansur!”

You beat me to it, Quentin. I thought it was the latter, but after that last comment I’m leaning to crude sock-puppet. Nice try, daza.
Either way...Andrea, get out that banning stick.
I’m normally not the banning type - let ‘em make asses of themselves, I say - but when they have a predictable schtick I say get rid of the boring idiots. I second Quentin’s humble request for a banning, Andrea. With whipped cream and a cherry on top.
#26 - I just stick to posts about wiping out palestinians and assorted arabs like everybody else.
Everybody, daza? I’ve already given you one beating with the clue stick on that hyperbole problem of yours. Don’t make get it out again (since wronwright might recognize this old thing as his Zulu spear and he still thinks Andrea’s got it).
Too bad the author of that excellent article will most likely be assassinated…
Posted by Kim du Toit on 2006 07 20 at 02:43 PM • permalinkWhat is scary is that the Islamic Information & Services Network of Australasia is sitting pretty in inner north of Melbourne. We truly have the crazies in our very midst.
Posted by closeapproximation on 2006 07 20 at 08:48 PM • permalinkIts the start of the fight, both men are in their corners. The bell rings.
Abu comes out yelling “Allah Akbar” fists swinging and running straight toward the Cardi.
Pell, still in his corner, lets rip with a deafening roar “I Kick Arse For The Lord!” (apologies Peter Jackson), grabs the screaming loon by the throat, throws him into the turnbuckle and starts beating on his bearded noggin like its “a rented donkey”.
‘Cardinal Pell will beat Abu like a rented donkey ‘ - #31. LMFAO, just had to post that again.
Then again given the choice of fighter for Chritianity, I think I’d take the GG. Anyone who was CO of the SAS should be able to handle a whacky preacher rather quickly…
Posted by The_Wizard_of_WOZ on 2006 07 21 at 01:27 AM • permalinkWell, your Aussie cardinal seems to be a lot smarter than the Archbishop of Canterbury or assorted US prelates, but what was he smokin’ when he wrote about ‘the struggle in the Islamic world between moderate forces and extremists’?
Where is this struggle going on? I’d make a donation to the moderates if I knew.
