COAL INVESTOR OPPOSES ALTERNATIVE POWER SOURCE
Domey rocker Peter Garrett owns some Telstra shares, which doesn’t seem much of a big deal. More interesting is this:
Despite being a staunch green activist, he also holds stock in AGL – the owner of one of Australia’s largest brown coal-fuelled power stations.
Why would an environmentalist invest in such a thing? Who knows, but it might explain Garrett’s attitude last June:
While Mr Carr suggested it was time for a debate on the merits or otherwise of nuclear power as an alternative to coal-fired power, Mr Garrett says it is an option not worth considering.
