CLIMATE OBEYS LAW
Arnold Schwarzenegger signed anti-warming legislation on September 27. Rather than risk prison or the Governator’s wrath, California’s climate is aggressively complying with Schwarzenegger’s new rules:
Early Saturday, thermometers registered just 8 degrees at Lancaster, 22 at Palmdale and 30 in Santa Barbara, according to the weather service. Much of Los Angeles County stayed in the low 40s.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger issued an emergency proclamation Friday citing “conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property ... as a result of extreme low temperatures and freezing conditions.”
Rare for a weather system to behave so obediently, but there you have it. Californian citrus industry representative Joel Nelsen notes a pattern:
“We can talk about global warming, but we’ve had 23 nights since Nov. 1 when we ran frost protection,” he said. “Last year there were six by this time of year.”
