9/11 COMEDY
Giant puppets with a political message! Who’d ever have thought?
A taxpayer-funded theatre group has turned the September 11 attacks into a black comedy.
The Melbourne-based Snuff Puppets company – which receives up to $50,000 in public funding – will put on a charity performance of The Twin Towers Show on Friday.

Snuff Puppet artistic director Andy Freer said the show included black humour and violence ...
Mr Freer said the purpose of The Twin Towers Show was to spark debate and understanding of the atrocity.
“We’ve made a 10-minute piece basically recreating the incident.
“We resolve it with a message about religious tolerance and harmony.”
The show was first performed about three weeks after the terrorist attacks in 2001.
The Snuff Puppet people claim:
All that is taboo in our society we tackle, with a vulgar, irreverent, gratuitously violent and comic sensibility.
Their (taxpayer-funded) boldering. Liars.

UPDATE. Reader MM alerts potential audience members:
My understanding is that this show at the Spanish Club, 59 Johnston St, Fitzroy (Melbourne, Australia) from 8 pm this Friday, does in fact involve scenes where Mohammed is depicted as a paedophile offering candy to young boys. There is also a running gag involving Mohammed and a goat.
