I’m one of those semi-permanent bachelors, lacking even a pet (unless you count my lawn).  I have multiple hobbies to pass the time, but I’m thinking of a getting a cat, just so I can say that pussy is not out of reach for me (UPDATE: no cat, but my right hand tends to meow) (UPDATE 2: right hand attracted to sand boxes).  House remodeling is 99.999% complete, am now buying furniture & such.
