'MAKE IT GO AWAY'

The thing that elevates this above your standard Democrat-mockery is that it's not a parody. Try to keep that in mind as you roll about on the floor, shrieking with delight; this is a genuine, heartfelt response to the Tragic Bush Re-Election.

I'd like to see a version using this soundtrack, however. Then it would be perfect.

Couldn't stop laughing...

Did anyone manage to count all the veeeery sad head tilts in that Flash clip? -- They must have all been practising for the World Sorry Day...

Posted by: JPB on Dec 15, 04 | 11:54 pm

Speaking of which: I hope you bought a t-shirt, Tim!

Posted by: JPB on Dec 15, 04 | 11:56 pm

I think I prefer Kool & The Gang's "Celebration" for this epic, nice though the (hmm?) squirrels are.

Posted by: Craig Mc on Dec 16, 04 | 12:28 am

Normally, I hate to see women cry...

Posted by: rexie on Dec 16, 04 | 12:33 am

For additional effect, try watching it without sound...seeing all those depressed faces amidst complete silence transforms the slideshow from unintentionally funny to hilariously pathetic.

And don't miss the second Thank You screen at the end...that list of "people who kept us sane during the last four years" has to be seen, just for the near-infinite irony factor.

Posted by: PW on Dec 16, 04 | 12:40 am

This really angers me (from the same site above):

"Tell people you personally speak with god, and instead of interning you in a psychiatric institution, they'll vote for you."
...
"But apparently, getting consensual oral sex is the subject for impeachment and outrage for years and years to come."

Moral relativism in action, for all to see.

Posted by: Jonathan on Dec 16, 04 | 12:43 am

Basically, what they're trying to say is "I'm going to miss you, and I'll never forget you, AnyoneButBush."

Posted by: dorkafork on Dec 16, 04 | 1:26 am

Nice unintentional irony in the use of Kate BUSH on the soundtrack. I think I'll rummage around in my CD bin and make this a Kate BUSH listening day.

Posted by: bovious on Dec 16, 04 | 1:38 am

as kate bush also says: "bad dreams in the night, you told me i was going to lose the fight."

far more apropos, given all those depressed faces and the predictable result.

Posted by: marten on Dec 16, 04 | 1:55 am

I don't know the 'artist' performing the song used for that video, but really...I think the initial howling as the sorry thing starts is just perfect. Could it be that she's howling...AT THE MOON?

Posted by: BrendaK on Dec 16, 04 | 1:56 am

Up until now I didn't realize just how HAPPY I was that these clowns lost. Nothing like mopy leftists to warm the cockles of a right-wing death beast's heart (mwahaha).

You'd think that Kerry had been assassinated rather than defeated at the polls. You'd think that Kerry was the savior of a generation rather than the fairly unremarkable politician that he is. These people need to get some perspective, fast.

Posted by: Robin Goodfellow on Dec 16, 04 | 1:58 am

Naah, the obvious best choice of Kate Bush song is "There Goes A Tenner," about a bunch of lovable losers hoist on their own petard.

Posted by: bovious on Dec 16, 04 | 2:11 am

Kate Bush has no business singing in her shower on a remote desert island (IMNTBHO), much less in any place where microphones and recording devices are present, but that music -- the maudlin, over-the-top depressed-teenage-girl sentimentality! -- is just perfect!

The slideshow also goes well with "Vertigo" by U2, though the resulting effect is not quite what "Julian" intended. You might also try it with Beck's "Loser."

Posted by: Baby M on Dec 16, 04 | 2:52 am

Personally, I think you're right about "We like da moon". If only.

Posted by: RebeccaH on Dec 16, 04 | 2:57 am

The comments section from that site seems to have been removed. I don't think he was getting the congratulations and sympathy that he expected.

Posted by: Craig on Dec 16, 04 | 3:01 am

As I watched that I tilted my head compassionately for those who had their dreams squashed like a bug on the windshield of Bush's campaign bus. It was just as funny seen from an angle.

I wonder how many of those poor dears are now suffering from, and being treated for, PEST: 'Post Election Selection Trauma'. I wish I were making PEST up, but I'm not. There's a bunch of people in the US being treated for it.

The effects of the blank slate theory in proud evidence, having produced the blank mind.

But, it's one of the 1st totally holisitic experiences I've ever had, if not the first. [Yogi-ism] Causing me to write what I just did without even thinking. [?]

No props give to America Coming Together. I bet they're insulted.

Posted by: zzx375 on Dec 16, 04 | 5:10 am

HEY!

Don't dis Kate Bush until you've spent at least a decade listening to her music! All of it! Even the bootlegs!

Complaining about Kate Bush for being maudlin is like complaining about an oil tanker for being big.

Dig it: WE KNOW, ok.

Posted by: bovious on Dec 16, 04 | 5:25 am

It's a real insight into the self-centred, bitter, victimised, loser mentality of the Left.

Posted by: murph on Dec 16, 04 | 8:51 am

There was a point where I was thinking "They're all white..."

Then, all of a sudden, there was an Asian and a Black couple. Do you think Julius has the same realisation and slipped them in at the last minute?

Posted by: murph on Dec 16, 04 | 8:55 am

Aagghh, Tim! Look what you've done to their site:

"Due to an increase in visitor traffic, the Web page you requested is temporarily unavailable. It has exceeded its monthly traffic allottment.
Please try again later."

Took 'em down.
bwahahahaha

For an alternative soundtrack, I suggest:

"It's my party and I'll cry if I want to."

A good anthem for the Dems in general, I believe.

Posted by: equitus on Dec 16, 04 | 10:33 am

ROFLMAO. Or is it ROTFLMAO. Whichever, the acronym was made for this moment.
"There're some things I should've said," she sings.
Uh-huh.

Posted by: m on Dec 16, 04 | 10:58 am

I know you have a little life in you yet
I know you have a lot of strength left
...
I should be crying
But I just can't let it show
I should be hopping
But I can't stop thinking
All the things I should've said
That I never said
All the things we should of done
That we never did
All the things I should've given
But I didn't

I'm not going to complain about the music for its being maudlin. I'm going to complain because it sucks.

Robin said You'd think that Kerry had been assassinated rather than defeated at the polls. You'd think that Kerry was the savior of a generation rather than the fairly unremarkable politician that he is. These people need to get some perspective, fast.

Exactly. The only thing, appalling is it was, that made JF Kennedy a demi-god is that he was murdered. Had he lived to surpass his use-by date (which was approaching fast) he would have gone down in history as another time-waster a-la Jimmy Carter
